Have you driven both an M2C and G80 M3?
Hi everyone. Has anyone driven both yet? I can't test drive the new M3 yet, so this comparison would help me decide which direction to go.

Close to a decade of progress in the G80 including a belter of an engine. If that’s not important and you don’t appreciate the added space then the M2C is an option I guess. To me G80 no question about it. I don’t want my new car to be out dated at delivery.

I'm really torn because I just picked up my M2 CS, but I'm already thinking of replacing my M4 later this year.
I was planning on selling the M4 and 135i because I just don't drive them anymore, but I didn't expect to want to get right back in. It's not like I need another GT car..

Then you can do a swap of the F82 for the G82 no problem. You got your drivers car. I have an M3 CS and I hate it because it's not stick.

I have a 6MT M2C. I don't love the 6MT, but I love the car.
Thinking about going to a DCT M2CS or a new M4C - I'd love to hear any opinions on both; especially MT feel (non C m3/m4). |

I own a M2C 6MT, and I've order a G80 6MT.
I am trying to sell my M2C while I am waiting for the G80 and in the meantime I've been daily driving a G20 M340i. The interior of the G is a big step forward in every way compared to the F. It's quieter, the materials are nicer, and it just feels higher class. The touchy-feely things is important to me as it's where you'll sit whenever you're in the car. Things I loved on the M2C - Size & packaging of the car - It makes you feel excited getting into the driver's seat Minor things I didn't like on the M2C - Limited space, passengers not happy (main reason I am moving to G80) - It does not have a sync button for the A/C - I had to make my own lighted M shift knob.

My take on the M2C is that it's its own animal. For me the F80 is closer to a more rugged version of the M5 so I'd guess the G80 is even closer. To me the F87 has a totally different feeling than the M3 and M5 so I could honestly see someone going with a M2C 6MT and a new M3/M4 with 8ZF and MXD. Best of both worlds! If I had to choose I'd go with the M2C because of how agile it is.

M2C doesnt have adaptive suspension so that is a yuggge difference if you plan on doing mostly street driving or are daily-ing the car. specifically if you live in an area with terrible roads like me just general two series stuff...rear passenger space is nice but not quite livable for adults on longer trips. Nice amount of room in the trunk though i think the trunk space is more or less the same between the 2 and 3 series. M2C is small but not exactly light to begin with so i am not too worried about the weight jump in the G80. Cant speak for the M2C on this one but the 2 series interior is functional but i wouldnt really call it impressive...lots of plasticy bits. im jumping from the m240i to the M3 rather than the M2C mainly for practicality reasons. The M2C has tons of rave reviews from auto journalists so im sure the driving experience is phenomenal. If youre chasing performance metrics though and want the newest and fastest thing id def go G80.

I had an M2C and now have a G80 6MT.
At some point I'll be able to put a comparison of the two into words, but I'm not there yet. The M2C is the best driver's car I've ever owned. It had a lot of usability limitations and there was a cost to how good of a drivers' car it is. The M3 is too new for me to really make many statements about it yet, but it is a very different car. It has more of a GT feel on the street than boy-racer, but I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do in so few miles. |

I test drove the G82 extensively and currently own an M2C. The G82 corners flatter and even more confidently than than the M2C. Much, much better than the wild and unrefined F82. The G82's steering is sharp and feels more precise on turn-in than the M2C's. Overall, the G82 hides its weight very well during spirited street driving. Cornering at speed, the car feels like it has a smaller wheelbase than it does - so good. Unlike the previous generation, I believe the new M4 offers a superior driving experience to the M2C.
On top of this, the M4 driven calmly gives you all the good things you want and expect from a car that will be driven daily. Compliant and adjustable suspension, beautiful interior surroundings, HUD, solid audio system, bigger fuel tank, the latest infotainment (for better or for worse). For me, it is nearly a perfect all-arounder. |

I have an order in on a final production M2C 6MT but I actually get more excited when I look at the new M3 6MT in the online configuration tool. My dealer is willing to do 4% off one either which would make the prices net of incentives on my preferred builds $57567 ($982/month for 60 months) for the M2C vs. $70919 ($1209/month for 60 months) for the M3. If I choose BMW Select (and why not when they're offering a 0.9% APR) the monthly cost is even closer: $732/month for 60 months + a $15K balloon payment vs. $787/month for 60 months + a $26K balloon payment. Tough decisions...
