Let's talk gray

I'm not one to get the flashy paint colors although there are some great options on this generation, but I think I would stick to the gray/silver/black range. Tanzanite is as colorful as I would go and black looks nice as always but maintenance sucks. So far I haven't found any pics of any G8x in Dravit or Oxide gray. Brooklyn gray is a no for me but there are plenty of pics available.

Who else is a gray fan and what have you seen, which are you leaning towards?

Update: many photos in thread. Here are some color swatches as well.

We share like preferences when it comes to car colors. I had a ‘18 F82 Tanzinite Blue that I recently lost in an accident. I now have a G82 Dravit Grey on order. Good luck with your decision.

BTW, I first saw a Dravit Grey M8 in LA this past September. It certainly captured my attention in a [obviously] favorable way.

That side profile of the Oxide M340i looks great.. I could see the M3 wearing that color well.

The pics of the M340i in oxide grey look like the oxyde grey cars I've seen in the dealer. I personnally will go for it. But it's all a matter of taste.

I'm still considering Brooklyn Grey but I'm waiting to see it in person. I'm worried Dravit Grey may be too dark where the CF exterior parts will not "pop". I'm also worried Oxide Grey is more of a classy than sporty color but I've never seen it in person. it looks great in those pics though!

I can't figure out how oxide compares to Donington. Is one darker or more brown?

Assuming those pics look accurate, I like Oxide Grey the best. Generally not a big fan of these new grey colors with 5 different shades in it (brown, beige, yellow, green, whatever). I'd prefer a proper grey.

I have a Dravit M340xdrive and your last 2 photos look like Dravit in moderately flat light. It can look darker than that, but in sunlight it looks lighter and really sparkles (has lots of different color metallic fleck in the paint, but in sunlight it is the gold fleck that you see. Even my in-laws love it and comment on it, and they own 3 white Volvo's, so are not not exactly adventurous!). I will be getting a G80 at the end of my current lease and am thinking of Dravit or Brooklyn, but I think Brooklyn is maybe too light. It's probably going to be Dravit again for me.

Oxide Grey looks amazing on the M340i! Good thing it's an option for the M3 as well.

Strange it's not an option on M4.

Strange indeed. Wasn't really digging the Brooklyn Grey M4 spotted a few days back tbh, guess the whole "primer gray" look is starting to get old real quick.

It actually makes sense since the color is borrowed from the 3 Series with which the M3 shares an assembly plant. However it is not available for the 4 Series with which the M4 is assembled. It’s too bad they didn’t give the M4 a different additional color from the 4 Series though.

Incidentally, since Oxide Gray isn’t offered on the G20 in the US for whatever reason, it actually behaves more like an M3 exclusive color here.

If I didn't already have dravit grey on my current car, I would for sure get it on the G80. I absolutely love it. But in the name of getting something different, I'm likely to go with TB2 next.

I ordered a Oxid Grey G80 Competion with Kyalami Orange interior and the M826 black wheels. Hope to get in in March. After many months of searching i now found some pictures of a Oxid Grey G80 in a german forum. The pictures are not great and the car is on winter-wheels but i will try to upload these pictures so you can see a Oxid Grey G80 in some real pictures

Great work and thanks! I think this looks really good and might be the front runner for me if I decide on a G80. If that's the dirty look I bet the clean look is amazing. For the G82 I think black may be the winner.

Agreed. I would get every car in Fire Orange for the rest of my days until that final ride in a black hearse if I could.

And hopefully accurate M340i pics of oxide and dravit gray...

I have a love hate relationship with my Dravit grey if I had to pick again I would go for a lighter color
