Trying to troll some Merc fanboys I know.

Not sure it's optimised for the US just easier to put 10 cents worth of plastic on for Europe, I just thank the Lord that we don't get those dreadful orange side reflectors you have to suffer in the US.

Does it make me a terrible person to judge people who say "I love it" to the front end design?

At the moment I think of them as the fake BMW enthusiast types who are addicted to IG.

Immediate response from my youngest (11) when he saw a picture of the new M3 last night: "That looks like a pig from angry birds, get the Corvette or 911 Dad."

If everyone kept their posts on subjective topics focused on their own views I can't imagine any would be deleted.

There are some good topics for discussion from this leak
-fender extensions (what markets?)
-is the green car base or competition?
-what other options might be available and how will they influence opinion of design (EG track pack wheels, carbon fiber exterior trim)
.... many others
FYI subjective does not mean come in here and dump on the people who like the design, while trying to pump up the residual value on your F8x series...the intent of my post was not to depreciate your current vehicle...that will be dictated by the market.

Please keep this focused on the G80/G82 and not the F8x which has a separate sub forum!

For me, it's ugly. Man, I had hoped after the car was leaked that all the inaccurate renders would stop. Looks like they're just getting started.

BMW has always championed their leases and their BMW Select balloon programs.
Oh, I fully agree. They're the biggest lease subsidizer of the German big 3 - though you saw some perks to lease starting to dry up and residuals beginning to creep towards near market standard starting somewhere in late 2018, IIRC.

What I'm getting at is the corporate initiative to not subsidize their NA leasing market so much is going to have to be thrown by the wayside if they want to continue setting sales records in successive M3 generations.

And, my post was a direct response to a bulletted list of "That said plenty of people will still purchase the car just based on the following:" I thought the traditionally lower than market for similar msrp lease figures are a highly relevant point to be missed.

They made so many more F8x cars than E9x cars - I have a feeling they're expecting to sell the same volume if not more with the G8x's, but they're going to need to subsidize heavily again. IDK if you recall, but there was a time that M3/4 CS's were going at 800 a month, which is great for the consumer, but says that the company priced the design incorrectly. We're going to see the same, and the sales #'s will be fine; thereby excusing BMWs poor decision making ability here, and not allowing the true metrics to be found in a vacuum, that all things equal this design may have a poor take rate. IMO, of course.

That's your opinion, mine is different. Several of the X3M owners on the F97/F98 forum have already gotten rid of their X3M's because of their disappointment over the lack of low-end acceleration. The Joe Achilles video comparing the X3 M40i to the X3M covers this very well. The thread I included the link to in my post also covers this topic.

It's my opinion that The X3M does not accelerate like other current M cars do, and I have driven several of them including the current M4 and the M2 Comp. I think the folks on this forum who currently drive M3's or M4's would be disappointed by the X3M's acceleration from a complete stop or during stop and go driving and I'm suggesting they test drive one extensively before buying one, that's all.

I agree, once a coupe gets this big it just ends up looking ridiculous. The M8 coupe is also way to big.The kidney grilles look awful on both cars but at least the M3 has a nicely proportioned design for a sedan.

I'm just happy that BMW decided to keep making the 2 series coupe.Looking forward to the new G87.

Prior to ordering the M5 Comp I debated long and hard as to whether to wait and get the M3. Still not won over by this new front grill design and frankly couldn’t have gambled ordering without seeing in the flesh.

Apart from its questionable looks I reckon it will be the car to beat in its class and probably my next M in a few years by which time the looks will have grown on me.

Like the front, the seats, and the wheels on both the M3 and the M4. Everything else is so intentionally un-BMW that it lost me completely.

It was a good 20+ year run with M3s in my family.

I also found the lag evident from down low (below 3k). Driven the X3M at M Town Tour and had an overnight test drive which the wife and I put a good amount of miles on in both traffic and backroads. After 3k its very nice and loves to rev, but honestly I was hoping for a larger upgrade from the S55 especially from the exhaust.

This must be the non-merino interior since the door tops, dash, and center console still have plastic. I definitely want to see the red and silverstone interiors, I think those will look great. Do wish we had some new paddles though, could feel a bit more tactile.
