I was all ready to trade in my X3 M40i for an X3M Comp, but once I drove it and found this out it was a total deal-breaker for me. There are several threads on the F97/F98 forum about this and they are discussing it right now.

That’s not true although the boost comes on strongER in the higher ranges, the X3M is perfectly fine down low. I spent 2 years with an M40i, and the F97 for just under a month. I am able to make a fair assessment of both. D2 Sport or Sport+ is more than enough. Folks make it seem like it’s like an e92 ///M (which I Also owned and loved)

Much like any other car, interior/exterior color combinations along with wheel choice(s) will change how this car is viewed. I'm not a fan of SPY, but IoMG looks pretty good despite the fact that I wouldn't buy the car in that color. I want to see this car in one of the grays or blues with the two tone wheels. I'm not a fan of black wheels.

I'm not a fan of "all black" wheels because there is no contrast. The two tone 666M were perfect.

The two tone here, from these pics, looks like its all silver from a distance.

That said plenty of people will still purchase the car just based on the following

-interior
-tech
-awd
-manual sedan
-"new shiney" m3 to show off
-raw performance
-forged internals - better crank than s55

I think the car looks great except the front and looks a lot better than the f80 from the rear/side but I feel the right play here is to wait for LCI or the cs models when they've had an opportunity to refine the new look

I don't have a horse in the race anyway, getting an m2 cs which I guess is still the old outgoing platform
How could you miss the biggest determining factor to the sales #'s here:

- BMW subsidizing leases way too heavily in order to show good sales/movement numbers.
....kinda like they did with the E9X and F8X, basically giving the cars away offering heavy discounts and 0.9-1.9% financing?!?! Oh, and BMW gave me $4000 back in late '04 to entice me to move from my '03 M3 into an '05 ZCP, so let's be fair in the subsidizing assessment. BMW has always championed their leases and their BMW Select balloon programs.

Not sure it's optimised for the US just easier to put 10 cents worth of plastic on for Europe, I just thank the Lord that we don't get those dreadful orange side reflectors you have to suffer in the US.

This is such a load of horse $#!+. It's one thing to discuss styling which is subjective but false statements like this give the internet it's bad name.

This thread was intended to be civil about the release of the G photos not F8x vs G8x.

Listen, the next 6 months the mods are going to have their work cut out for them lol. BMW didn't think about what such a radical design would do the the mods as they try and coral 8,000 comments about how the F8x residuals just went up!

Now that I've had some time to mull these images over, the new look has 'groan' on me.

I mean I don't like the front, even a little, but can someone Photoshop those damn license plates off? Maybe it makes it a tiny bit better?

Yeah, in 4 1 with 10k ‘flagship’ cash plus other rebates just like current M3/4 CS.

Let's see how it plays out. Not saying the F8X will become the E46, but there is a fine balance between classy/aggressive and tacky/overdone. I think BMW has made it clear where they want to stand with the G8X.

I am not going to speak for the mods but there is a difference and in tone and intent between

"I don't like the design, it's awful to me, and against everything I personally want bmws to look like" OR "car looks great to me"

And

"Anyone who likes this car is a scumbag bmw sycophant, needs eyesight checked, is a bmw lemming, doesn't know anything about good design, only concerned with tech, not real M fans" or "the haters are all backward, tantrum throwing children, making outlandish statements for likes from the other haters"

If everyone kept their posts on subjective topics focused on their own views I can't imagine any would be deleted.

There are some good topics for discussion from this leak
-fender extensions (what markets?)
-is the green car base or competition?
-what other options might be available and how will they influence opinion of design (EG track pack wheels, carbon fiber exterior trim)
.... many others

None of the photoshopped fixes for the front end have looked good to me. If they change it, they'll have to change the entire front end. The intakes were designed around the floor to ceiling grilles, so just changing the grilles and leaving the rest of the front nearly unchanged doesn't work IMO.
