That's my point! How can week 50 be out, but 43/44 still be in? The only explanation is G80 vs G82/83.

I'm unable to check my build status online as of the past few weeks and I'm starting to wonder if this is a test of my patience since I've been asking (telling) my kids to be patient for Xmas…

Just called Genius and I'm still in QC since 11/19 and there is zero additional info or ETA. Starting to transition from "this waiting game is building suspense" to "I'm over this shit"…

All first world problems, I fully realize.

Don’t feel bad, I have been in QC since 11/8. Others have been longer. I have accepted that it’s going to be a while before I see my car. I guess my current M4 will have to last a little longer.

The situation is not ideal, but what can we do but wait? At least we're not paying for them yet.

G80 M3Cx order checking in. Below is my timeline. I've never received any explanations to the delays from my CA or Genius based on any real facts or information being shared by BMW HQ. There are only assumptions based on prior year production cycles.

For my car I constantly got the responses like... "Oh, it's an individual, those will take longer to schedule and they all get built together." Sure. I ordered an individual before. I understand those types of delays. However, if you read on these forums, that does not explain the majority of the delays that are impacting buyers as the majority are not individual orders nor does it explain the lengthy gaps in my own purchase timeline. A LOT (or all) of the issues we're seeing can be attributed to part shortages and recalls, but there's no real way for us to know.

Based on all of the activity on the forums, tons of people had massive delays just in scheduling their car regardless of M3/M4 or build choice. Then, once you finally get lucky and your scheduled production date sticks, you have to hope you make it past QC. You either breeze through or you get stuck in QC purgatory. The only trend noticed and called out (as far as I know) is the M4 QC backlog that led to this thread.

There have been some people who have posted conjecture that, whether through their own deduction or messaging from their CA/Genius, point to delays in QC for specific parts like radio modules, infotainment displays, or amplifier parts. If that's the case, I'd like to understand how/why cars ordered months after the cars in QC, with the same build/parts required, are being delivered already yet the cars in QC remain waiting for parts. Are they really not fulfilling cars with parts in a First In First Out method?

As many have said, it's frustrating but not something to truly grab pitchforks over. If I was so sick of waiting or upset with BMW, I could just cancel the order. If I found something else I wanted more than this car, I'd just go get it. My new hope is that I just get my car before Week 1 orders receive theirs.

03/15: Deposit for first xDrive allocation submitted
06/10: Order received
06/11: Order accepted
06/22: Individual color accepted
147 days and many reschedules later...
11/16: Production begins
11/17 Exterior body assembly begins
11/18 In the paint booth
11/19 Entering assembly line > Assembly in progress > Quality check

27 days in QC and counting.

No f-ing clue. This is not as simple as an m3 vs m4 thing either. My week 46 base m3 with minimal options has been in QC for almost a month now.

On the brighter side, I know some GLC 63s 2021 coupe’s took a very long time to come in and they have been crediting customers because they are missing many parts but still asking for above sticker. For example a good majority of the cars dont have the digital gauge cluster screen and other features that require chips. They are still asking for over 100K because its the last of the V8’s. This isn’t a surprise but sometimes gotta put things into perspective. I’d definitely rather wait 6-7 months and get a complete car then wait longer and get some half assed car.

I'm in SoCal as well. My theory that they prioritize high volume areas like ours is out the window too

The plant is shut down, so QC for at least the next few weeks. No hope of movement during that time, right?

I have good news people. I contacted bmw USA support and got someone from the executive offices to take my case and complaint. My car has been in QC for 2 months and they are going to personally call the German plant next week and get back to me about what the giant hold up is for not only me but other people in this forum. I will update back here once i hear back.
