Inside trunk lid paint
New M4 is my first BMW car since 2013. I had a 135 back then but can’t remember if the trunk interior was painted the same as the rest of the car. Yesterday I was putting a cooler in there and noticed it appears to be primered a tan color but not Draviet Grey like the rest of the car. Is this normal?

Yes. It’s the liquid bath they dip the car in. There will be some light areas of paint, not clear coated inside. I think it’s called cathodic dipped paint for rust protection or it’s the primer coat.
Totally normal |

I assure you it’s normal lol. Mine has a sprinkling of orange but it’s pretty much the same as yours.
I’m assuming that BMW figured that most kidnap victims who get thrown in the trunk won’t care about the color of the underside of the parcel shelf. |
