Carbon Buckets Damaged
Recently noticed wear on the drivers side bolster on my Carbon Buckets.
I am aware that this is something caused by me getting in and out of the car especially with it being my daily but I am genuinely curious as to how this could've been avoided in the first place. I try my best to climb over the bolster when getting in and out of the car however I am still experiencing this issue. Creasing of the leather is not a big deal for me but the color wearing off obviously is. Is this fixable without a full replacement of the leather on the bolster? Would rather it be fixed versus me just covering it up with the IND bolster cover and highly doubt it be covered under warranty as it is "wear and tear." Anyone else having this issue or other durability issues with the Carbon Buckets? |

Looks dirty from the shine on it.
Look into the colourlock system, the cleaner + leather shield which is supposed to protect it and prevent dye transfer etc. I would also buy the bolster protector at this point to avoid making it worse. |

I have cleaned it using dish soap and water (recommended by an upholstery shop years ago) but didn't seem to repair the shine. Hopefully the colourlock system works better. |

They even sell dye kits in the fiona color. I'm not familiar with them or how to use them, but I'm sure there is info on youtube. Either way your seats are for sure salvageable. https://www.colourlock.com/Car-Leath...r/BMW-Colours/ |

Absolutely love these seats and hate to see them get ruined within less than 2 years of ownership |

With that seat colour, you may want to protect on the side shoulder location as well (where the seatbelt meets the seat when you wear it). It'll wear out eventually with movement of the belt. So need a leather pad right there to protect. My seats are Alcantara on the side and suffered the same wear issue from the last car, so I was sewing the leather pad on top just to protect it.

One of the many reasons I love leasing
You should try GYEON Quartz Q²M LeatherCleaner & then hit it with GYEON Quartz LeatherShield - Advanced Sio2 Ceramic Coating Personally would never purchase the iND bolster covers. Butt ugly imo and a major eye sore I’d sooner get it re upholstered , but to each their own

They should take care of this under the bumper to bumper. I've had seat covers, center console covers, steering wheels, and even floor mats replaced under warranty with half a dozen other brands. I would contact the dealer. After that get some of the IND covers. Not the best looking "fix" but, it'll work.

I wonder if this is something they would replace under warranty.

Thats typical wear and tear IMO. I highly doubt a dealer will replace that for you. If they do, that would be a nice win for you.
All leather will do this if constantly rubbed on. The buckets seat design just makes it happen 100% more often than a normal seat. At least thats how I see it.

Are they damaged or is the dye rubbing off? Looks like the latter.

That’s actually nominal wear for a 2 year old car. Good job getting in and out. All of the bolsters will take a beating one way or another. Hit it with the products mentioned above and it’ll look better. But at the end of the day, if you use the car it’s inevitable.

Check out: https://www.leathertouchupdye.com/
I used their products for similar wear on an X5 bolster and it worked extremely well. They had BMW dyes to match the color, Canberra Beige (I think that was it). This company has been been in business for over 100 years if I remember correctly. I definitely plan to continue using their products. I don't have a before shot, but here's an after. I cleaned the seat and touched up the area with the matching dye - super easy. And the lower bolster looked worse than the example in this thread. I'm waiting for my G82 to be delivered next week and I already purchased the bucket seat covers from IND. Can anyone report on how well those bucket seat covers work to protect the leather?
