Is there a way to stop the trunk from locking while driving?
My trunk locks automatically when I start driving and it's frustrating because the first thing my kids do when I pick them up from school is try to open the trunk for their bookbags but are always thwarted. Is there a setting in idrive for this? I couldn't find anything obvious there or in BimmerCode.

There's an option to unlock the car when you put it in park. If you remember to do that it should unlock the trunk as well.

It’s a setting in the Vehicle Settings app. Just disable auto locking.

In my G81 with iDrive 8, I don’t actually see a way to disable auto locking after you drive off. Only thing I can think to suggest is enable “Unlock doors when in P”. Even with doors unlocked, a lot of cars disable the electric boot release when the car is in gear. |

It is for the security reason. The boot is opened only from inside button while the car engine is on and in driving mode.
Imagine you're sitting in traffic ans somebody just walks by, opens the trunk at the back, grabs your stuffs in there and runs, what can you do ? |

Just for clarity, you want the car to be vulnerable 100% of the time you're in it, because on the off chance you might forget to reach down to door pocket to flick the release button?
