So it is more a GT car than an M8?

Well the E92 is pretty old now, but still a gorgeous car.

the power dome on the F80 is looking weirder and weirder to me the more I see pics of both generation M3s next to eachother 🤣 im not hating on the F80 at all i think both cars look mostly great but do y'all actually like how the power dome looks aesthetically or is it more of a tradition type thing? I'm new to the whole bmw scene and I was broke as sh** until the g80 stuff started leaking lol so I have mostly an outsiders perspective and not a lifelong bmw fans perspective admittedly

Electric parking brake means you can't do a quick track side rear brake pad job without bringing a laptop with you

I'm sorry, but what a let-down. No (positive) emotion evoked like seeing the e46 m3, e92 m3 or f82 m4 for the first time - and before that, I hugely appreciated the e30 and e36 as a kid - and still do - all beautiful art. I don't understand how from a design perspective anyone can feel anything hugely positive/exciting, BUT, we're all different and everyone has an opinion. Everyone also has preferences. For me, I can't ignore bad looks for performance. Although these M's are going to be scorchers in terms of performance, they are damn ugly. A real let-down to something that was so anticipated. The m3, albeit not a knock-out in terms of design at all, is better (or just less shitty?) than the m4 - which just lacks depth, muscularity etc - and then has presence, for the wrong reasons. Looking forward to seeing these in-person to actually see the body panels and how muscular (or not), they look. No power-dome is a miss. In terms of design, I view the M cars as being like their non-M counterparts, but on steroids. The power-dome was a part of that. At the moment, I see this and I do not think "german engineering". It's as if the design department was infiltrated by someone with influence from a different country that wanted their preferences strongly influencing the design, and bmw just bent over and took it. Blah. This is like the feeling you get when you watch a movie with an unfulfilling, shitty ending.

The E92 M3 still looks so modern I bet they could stick it in a BMW showroom today and it wouldn't look out of place.

If the designer had just stopped the grille right at the license plate level, I might have excused the smaller asymmetrical grill. |
