Yeah I've given up on avoiding break squeaks. I just embrace the squeak and try to make them as prolonged and noisy as possible to flex on nearby vehicles.

1) Did you order the wear sensors with these or no (not sure why it’s an option?)? And if so, everything still vibes with the OEM system regarding iDrive brake life warnings, etc? 2) Did you install front & rear iSweep pads? 3) Did you have an indy shop do this? Or dealership? And….approx how much was labor for the job (excluding parts)? |

2. Yeah front and rear 2000's. 3. I did them myself. It was a very easy install and I'm not super mechanically inclined. The electric parking brake makes it slightly complicated UNLESS you use Bimmerlink to retract the motor. Then it's a cake walk. It took me 1.5 hours so I'd say it should cost more than $200-300.

Thanks for sharing. Do you miss your GTS, or are you content now with the M3? As for the brake squealing, it also drove me nuts on my comp x. The manual M3 I have now - I was super careful through the initial break-in and while they did end up squealing a bit (occasionally), not as bad. And if I pressure wash the brakes well, that seems to help. And mountain drives where I push the brakes harder. Btw I test drove the base 992 and placed a deposit on the T, but ultimately stuck with my M3 - it’s so fast for the money and very luxurious relatively. I’m also not a fan of sitting just above the ground.

Nice review, glad to hear you ea positive take after coking from a truly amazing car in the GTS.
I just switched to iSweep pads and he difference is night and day to the factory pads. Better stopping (though it certainly isn't necessary as you noted), but zero squeal, and significantly less dust. The little bit of dust that does happen washes off much easier than the oily residue from the factory set. PM r33_RGSport for what the best options are. He is a frequent contributor on the forums, and is a great person to do business with. Any other questions, you can find out just about anything you need here, as I am sure you know. Enjoy the new ride.

Excellent write-up! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I can't speak to the lineage of vehicles you've owned and driven. However, coming from the likes of Subaru STI's, Mustang GT 5.0's, and don't laugh, MazdaSpeed3's ( actually pushing 300 HP with mods) as I saved for 10+ years for my baby now, this thing is a dream to drive. I echo every pro you listed and for me, due my peasant lineage, I have zero cons... except for the brake dust! Thanks again, great review!

Brake dust gives me a built-in mechanism for changing my wheel color.
Where else can you get burnt brown wheels? |

Nice review. Thanks for sharing. I hated the fuel consumption at the beginning. I bought the car with 10k miles. After doing another 2k it seems like the car has adjusted itself to my driving style and actually shifts a lot earlier than before. I also experienced this jerkiness that you are experiencing, but I haven’t had it recently. I don’t know if I’m just hallucinating, but it really feels like the car is much relaxed since I am driving it.
I got this machine for the handling and because it was a dream since I was a child. I am certainly not a typical M driver, I manage below WLTP on average. My monthly review is also interesting… not sure it’s something to be proud of, though. My wife always laughs at me and thinks, that I definitely got the wrong car.😀 But, when I get the chance , it is always fun to chase a Porsche down the Autobahn with 250kmh. |

You’re averaging 26.8 mpg? I’m not sure the app is correct, but how is that even possible…?

My avg for 3200 kms has been 10,2l/100km. This month is at 8,3 I believe. I am almost getting 700kms on a tank of gas. I must say, that I wasn’t allowed to be very heavy on the throttle, because my diff needed to be replaced, so I got to do the run-in service for the diff again. I quit using this car in the city for short trips (<8miles), the warm up phase is what kills this car’s economy. On the Autobahn it’s really good. If you drive it like you stole it, then you’ll be doing 14-16l/100km. The avg since factory is 12,7l/100km. It was 13,2 at handover.
But, having said so. I think people should be banned from a M-Forum for bragging about fuel economy. |

Just chiming in to say nice color choice from a fellow Tanzanite / Tartufo owner (though yours looks more like Kyalami? Hard to tell from the pic.)
