I’ve been considering San Marino Blue Individual vs Portimao Blue, do you all think that there is a considerable difference between SMB and Portimao Blue? Or is the difference marginal? Difficult deciding as to whether to pay the uplift for SMB or not.

Looking to pair either one with full Fiona red interior.

You may find this thread helpful. I did. From left to right it's San Marino, Portimao, Estoril, and YMB. SMB is much richer IMO but whether it's worth $5k is in the eye of the beholder. I personally love Estoril but that's not an option on the G80s.

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1584363

Ultimately I stuck with Portimao Blue over an individual blue, but I still have a little wishful thinking every now and then.

To me, personally of course, there is no way either of those blues are worth $5000 more than Portimao. The difference is much too subtle. Now other blues like Voodoo, Enzian, Mexico, etc seem worth it because of just how strikingly different they are. Nobody could mistake those for a standard paint choice. These two, estoril/San Marino, look in photos like they could just be Portimao in different lighting conditions.

San Marino looks like a completely different blue in person compared to Portimao. Portimao was my first choice for this car initially but San Marino is just jaw dropping in my opinion… thus my ultimate decision to go that direction. It’s only $4500 not $5000 btw. Not cheap by any means but I see it as better value than say the carbon fiber package for $4700

Do you bro! I'm glad you're getting a color you're happy with. Honestly I want Enzian or Voodoo more than Portimao but I'm reluctant to possibly wait for longer production lol.

Eh, $4,500 plus tax and interest is close enough to $5k haha.

That said, agree that I'd rather have individual paint over carbon fiber pack for that cost. But you'd likely recoup some of the CF pack in trade in/resale whereas individual paint is a crapshoot.

Nevertheless, I truly love nearly all of the exotic blues but ultimately still did PB. Sold my car private party way faster than I anticipated and can't tack on another 2.5mo to my current wait.

Yeah I'm too worried about production delays due to the chip shortages and other covid related issues to put in individual paint, which could make everything take longer. But sheeeesh enzian and voodoo are amazing.

If it's the last gas powered car you're going to get and will keep a long time it might be worth getting what you want.

The CF package is $$ if bought individually. Just the Front Bumper Ducts + Labor is ridiculous.

If you paying 85K + and your going to keep it forever, get what you want. if an additional $45.00 a month is going to break you, then maybe you should consider something else. Just saying....

Official PORTIMAO BLUE G80 M3 / G82 M4 Thread

It took six months, but it's finally arrived. I chose to pick it up at the Performance Center and drove it back home, which was an awesome experience.

This is a 6MT in Portimao Blue over Kyalami Orange. 825M bi-color wheels help offset the color and chrome trim nicely, I think.

Should you get the stick? Yes, in short, it's no better or worse than any other BMW manual experience. But it does help bring the G80 driving experience to life.

Where do you draw the line then? To me it just pushes this car closer and closer to M5 or E63 AMG and it loses value. It's not the 45 dollars a month. I hate when people say when you're already spending 85. What's another 5, it's still real money. Its 5k I can put towards my wife's Tesla lol.

Nice! I'm scheduled for week 42 with Portimao over Tartufo. I'm also getting the 825 Bi-color wheels. Looks great! I'm hoping to take Performance Center delivery (for the 5th time), but I"m a little concerned about the weather driving back to NJ that time of year. We'll see. Enjoy yours!

Indeed. Had it not been this time of year I might not have done it.

Unlike MachinesWithSouls' pro photos, these are just point & shoot smartphone pics from delivery day earlier this week at the Performance Center.

Cloudy conditions just before the rain moved in. The last pic is the first time I saw my car -- needless to mention it was love at first sight

Although it took a full 6 months to actually take delivery at the Performance Center, I do not regret waiting for my Mexico Blue M3. As everyone has stated, these blues are very difficult to photograph. The color exceeded my expectations (the first time I saw the color on a M3 was when I took delivery!). Great delivery experience at the Performance Center![IMG][/IMG]

Ok wow, kudos to this wonderful Mexico Blue! Stunning ! Kind of reminds me of the Yas Marina Blue from the F8x.
Totally underrated color.

A blue thread deserves a compilation of all blues! I can't tell you how long I spent looking for examples of all the blues — love them all!
