Fantastic. Looks like CSL will retain normal-ish door cards, too. If they can make it lightweight mainly through the use of exotic materials and with minimal removal of handy options like Comfort Access and Surround View parking cameras, that will be ideal.
I would say that the interior would be somewhat different to the video. Especially the door handle. Remember, this is a teaser.

I wouldn't say that out loud. BMW Australia are going to vet people and will not sell them the car if the expect they will flip it

Pretty cool video and it got me a little bit more excited about this csl meeting expectations of a "special" M car…So much potential, we shall see!

9 days and a wake up and no more speculation!

Based on this frame, doesn't it look like the redline goes above 8k rpm, maybe even higher?

The lower compression ratio of S58 should reduce or negate the need for the water injection system which was there to allow for aggressive ignition timing in conjunction with increased boost and compatibility with 91 octane gas.

And I suspect 540 hp is bs and the engine will effectively generate a lot more power than what is expected from the rated output.
I was also hoping for proper passive coilovers like on the GTS models but the video talks about setting up software for the damping so I guess that means EDC is staying. Good news for other G8x owners who want to code it in.

Agreed. I think it will be closer to 160k in the US, but this car will definitely be worth it in terms of performance.
I strongly doubt it will exceed the price of the M5 CS. That didn't work with the m4 GTS (they barely sold) and bmw won't repeat that mistake again.

If this car is $160k, it will have a truly shocking feature or spec number (I.e like a 400 lb weight delete instead of 200, or a significant mechanical change to the engine with a much higher redline).
It'll also probably come with a markup 20-30k
Call me crazy, I don't think the demand is going to be there for this car. Their has been significantly less demand for the coupe and the 2WD M4 compared to xdrive and M3 models.

There won't be markups on these and they will be on dealer lots like the GTS. The car will be amazing though.
Was worried about the CSL keeping value based on how the GTS did. However, the current market is completely different and it's hard to get your hands on any G80 without ordering one. If this car lives up to the hype (looking at how good the standard G8x and M5 CS is) I think this car has a chance.

Could also be an electronically controlled coilover, something like this:

Depending on what's behind the steering wheel, it might be 8k of 9k

Good video. Looks like an authentic message. Last all engine ///M before a mild hybrid system?

Anything 8k and above would make it extremely rare and special. The only production FI engines I’ve seen that does this is Ferrari @8k, Koeningsegg @8250 and McLaren @8500.

Forget 9k, if it’s above 8k it will secure cult status.

Isn’t normal street tires an option? Very hard if not impossible to drive Cup 2 R tires in the winter and in rainy weather.

My dealer has 1 allocation. No waiting list. They are going to sell it to the highest bidder and are expecting $20-40k over. I would expect most dealers will do this. Contrast this to the F82 GTS that sat on lots for a year. This dealer eventually let theirs go for $90k.

McLarens redline at 8,500 but point taken (and agree).

Not sure if this has been covered. But, does anyone know as to how many units are going to be produced for the US?

I read 1000 in total somewhere with a significant share to the US. It sounds like around 300 maybe. I guess we will know May 20

The limit for the rpm limit is not the engine, but the transmission. The ZF8 has a limited engine speed of about 7000 rpm, so they're already stretching it with 7250 they give the S58. They cannot go any higher.

Was about to post this. I'm very curious once tuners crack the ecu if they give manual owners an increased redline. The S58 pulls very hard up until redline so it has plenty to give past 7200.
