Sport Auto just ran 7:16 with the new Cayman GT4RS. If the M4 CSL can match or beat it, it would be quite a feat.

Though if we get the ring time at reveal it will most likely not be sport auto but the factory driver time. The GT4 RS did it in 7:09 in the hands of Porsches factory driver. So we should compare apples to apples.

BMW has not revealed a factory Nurburgring time probably since the e46 CSL. They won't publish a time for this car either so don't hold your breathe for that.

This is true ( edit for some cars) and extremely frustrating. They keep putting their reputation in the hands of one or two laps that could easily be botched…cue M5 CS. I can’t fathom why they keep doing this instead of giving us a fastest factory driver time that represent what the car is capable of and not the time of the one day environmental circumstances and form of the sport auto driver

This is not accurate. BMW has published the following “factory times” in their press material:

7:28 for the F82 M4GTS
7:35 for the F82 M4cs
7:38 for the F80 M3cs

Ah didn't realize. It didn't help sell F series cars then.

Good memory
So chances are decent we’ll get it for the CSL.

Something is up with the wheels, and the stance. Either the wheel spacing, or the wheels, themselves. It's also nice to see Sport Cup 2Rs available. These will be Star marked, so, this offers yet another option for the all out track driver. The trunk is obvious. What's not so obvious, or maybe it is, is the driver's seat. Looks to be McLaren Senna Spec. Which is a non adjustable shell, with just padding. I'm going to go with a 540hp guess. I'm also going to guess this car will be a 7:20:00 or quicker, on the Ring. Keeping in mind that the xDrive G82, is already 00:1:00 quicker than the M5CS on the Ring. Also, take notice, no iD8
That's the same thing i was thinking when you looked at the seats. It'll probably be the same red / black color combo in the M5 CS. Love the alcantara steering wheel.

Front diffuser looks more aggressive!

This will be a cool car. now do we think it'll push $140k MSRP?

I think it might. But that just seems like a lot of money for a G8X. Especially when for the same price, and equally as rare, you can find an M5CS.

It depends what lap length it is being compared to for true apples-to-apples.

7:09 is for the full lap. Porsche also measured the “AM&S/SA Supertest” lap, which the GT4RS did in 7:04.51.

Traditionally BMW published for the “Supertest” lap length. We’ll see what the do this time around .

The M4 GTS carried an msrp of $135k if I recall correctly. I think we can bank on $140k minimum for the CSL taken recent inflation.

Agreed. I think it will be closer to 160k in the US, but this car will definitely be worth it in terms of performance.

I strongly doubt it will exceed the price of the M5 CS. That didn't work with the m4 GTS (they barely sold) and bmw won't repeat that mistake again.

If this car is $160k, it will have a truly shocking feature or spec number (I.e like a 400 lb weight delete instead of 200, or a significant mechanical change to the engine with a much higher redline).

It'll also probably come with a markup 20-30k

Call me crazy, I don't think the demand is going to be there for this car. Their has been significantly less demand for the coupe and the 2WD M4 compared to xdrive and M3 models.

There won't be markups on these and they will be on dealer lots like the GTS. The car will be amazing though.

We are going to know pretty soon, Karyne saw the car at an event in Austin, she's sending the info as soon as they get it
