Smile Newbie...I am back now in an M3 Comp XD!!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello everyone!

Picked up a 22 M3 Comp Xdrive over the weekend preowned unit with just over 1k miles. Previously had an 18 M4 and a number of other cars including a 911 TTS.....needless to say I love nice car! My car is Brooklyn Gray/Silverstone. Car really rides nicely, looks great and is impressively fast! I have not had a sedan muscle car since 09...ctsv. Man, I was not aware of the top speed limiter as the car stopped pulling at 158... Did a little searching and found out why. Is there a fix for this? Please lmk.

Hey, I am excited to be back and will pick you all's brains to learn more about this platform and what tasteful mods are available. Btw, two mods will happen right away...1- wheel spacers and 2- low dust brake pads. Lmk what spacer sizes look more aggressive and what low-dust pads you all are running.

Best,
Ken

Congrats on the new M3CxD!

I don't have my 4 yet, and my biggest complaint about the car is the very artificial sounding exhaust. Nauseating in the enhanced mode, I hope I can set the sport and sport plus engine without automatically having that enhanced sound in the cabin. But from a principal standpoint, the 155 limiter is highly offensive. I suspect there are threads on it, but it is unreal that you have to pay extra to get the top speed out of an M car. Needless to say, I passed on that option.

You can set M1 and M2 default without enhanced sound. And of course there is the center console button to change if the default no-enhanced needs changed for whatever reason.
Sometimes I like the enhanced noise on certain solo quick rips, but with passenger it's usually off more than on.

As far as I am aware, ASD can only be turned off by coding it out. Am I missing something?

Maybe I'm the one missing someone. Before posting the above I went into garage and set up my M1 and M2 through the iDrive. The option to not have fake engine noise was given. I clicked both to "quiet".
If this isn't the info requested I apologize.

That is great news for me. I was afraid the sporty engine settings would be programmed to include the synthesized exhaust. Thanks for your reply!

My mistake, yes you can disable the fake sound but that also closes your exhaust valves I believe. You can also code ASD off completely without affecting the valves (which are never truly open anyway, without a controller)

There are dedicated threads on ideal spacers. Best fill will depend on if you have Pirelli or Michelin rubber
