Car at port, and friends asked "you got the carbon roof, right?" Nope

BIMMERPOST

I've always had black interiors and optioned a sunroof or had a giant panoramic roof. For my M4 I selected tartufo and sunroof.

Coincidentally several friends asked today about the incoming car, it's at port in Germany, and said "man, I've heard about that carbon roof, it's going to look incredible."

Uh, I didn't get it.
*insert sound of Debbie Downer music.

Obviously I can't change anything. Immediately went to past threads about carbon roof vs sunroof", and saw some pics. I'm new to the M world and honestly didn't know it was almost a trademark of the series. That carbon roof looks great, and even in my harsh winters and no-track use it'd be nice, but I still enjoy a nice airy roof.

This concludes my self reassurance/regurgitation that I still built a proper car and can't back out now.

Don't come here looking for assurances; trust in yourself and the choices you made. You're not buying a car for your friends, you bought one for yourself. Enjoy!

Yeah, the carbon fiber roof looks good from the outside. A nice spring drive with the windows and moonroof open? Priceless.

I pick those options that give me the most driving satisfaction, and for me, that's a moonroof. Although this time, I went with the vert.

Just my opinion.

Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one! So, who cares what others think!

Many do consider the CF roof as a must have M option and opt for looks over function, but you can always wrap the roof with a CF wrap and sort of have both.

Carbon fiber roof serves a function.

Yeah, saves weight up high. For most, this is unnecessary.

If you say weight savings, ha ha ha. 99.9 percent of people can't drive this or any car to that limit. You can make up that weight with a new battery or exhaust. The weight diff is minimal if I remember

If you are going to enjoy the moonroof, i wouldn't care what others think.

Enjoy your vehicle.

Its all personal preference. For me I would never order one without the carbon roof. Its one of the best features of an M car. Maybe wrap the roof black to give it that look.

Don't sweat it, you built the car to your liking, not for others. If you got the sunroof, rock it!

You mean lowered center of gravity for the car? No one is driving to the degree that they are going to notice that.

What?!

Every single day that I take that left hand turn and zoom into the elementary school drop off line, I notice it!

Don't try to tell me I don't!

You said it perfectly , while its usefulness is limited the carbon roof is a trademark to the M car.Just take pride in the fact you are part of a select group that have one at all .So welcome to the club and remember when your ready to get the next version talk to your friends first before ordering

That does sound like a sharp turn. Your car would probably flip due to the higher center of gravity if you didn't have the life saving CF roof. I apologize. I stand corrected.

I really don't understand why someone needs approval from friends about how you spend your money. It's the same people that holler at people about not getting laser headlights. Yes I have my personal opinion that it's worth it. But who the hell would or should care about what I think?

Long story short, you live with it and pay for it. If it the sunroof makes you happy, who gives a crap if someone disapprove your selection?
