Full PPF might have saved you, BUT you'd have to pay for the full PPF, then for the PPF replacement on the door panel. Not sure it's worth the cost.

That sucks M3coco. Sorry to see that happen. I agree with a few others that it might not have been a keying. Just seems a bit too short and too deep to have been someone pissed off enough to key a car.

Absolutely, that was my only thought to deter me from thinking that it was a key mark. I mean if you're going to key someone's car, go all out and really fuck it up, not just a 2-in gouge. The only other thing I can think of is someone was walking by and swiped it real quick just to be a dick, or a tool rubbed up against it.

I had two long scratches on my F80 passenger door from a KMART parking lot once. The body shop was able to buff it out. Turns out it was probably something that just got thrown up on the highway or something.

I was jammed up in a Walmart parking lot and some lady just wheeled her cart to a sidewalk instead of the cart return. Literally 2 seconds after she walked away it starte rolling towards me. There was a car in front of me so I could only move up so much. It hit my rear bumper instead of the metal door, so damage was minimal. Still, it was a 3 week old 340i and this dumb lady had the nerve to get mad at me when I told her to put her cart away properly AS IT WAS ALREADY RESTING AGAINST MY REAR BUMPER. Fuck Walmart shoppers.

I was smoking in the parking lot after eating at a Japanese buffet (this was over 20 years ago) and a family pulls up in typical fashion in this neighborhood: Parked horribly close to me in a beige Honda full of kids. I already knew what was going to happen. A kid in the back seat might as well have drop kicked his door open, because there was no regard whatsoever to my car next to him. BAM, right onto my newish 2000 Audi A4. I love my people, but as an Asian, I know some of us just lack automotive spacial awareness.

For whatever reason, the M3 gets a bit more attention than other cars (even more expensive ones). That can be both positive and negative attention.

Since my G80 is not my daily, I can usually be a bit more careful about where I park, but recently I parked far away from all other cars. I mean dozens of spaces of gap from any other car. When I went back to my car, some horrible junky car was parked right next to it. I suspect they were just trying to have fun with me or wanted to check out the car, but clearly it got attention (maybe for no other reason than the fact I tried to park away from everyone).

But it takes a real pathetic person to key someone's car especially when you have not done anything wrong by them.

I park far away from everyone not caring ifs it’s gonna be a long walk, and out of ALL the parking spaces some morons go and park right next to me, which immediately makes me worry if this dumbass is gonna swing the door wide open into my car. 😡 I park at my businesses parking lot, in front a row of ten empty spaces reserved for our business use, and it doesn’t fail, someone comes and parks right next to me. I run to my car and move it away but wtsf.
I broke my leg awhile back and got one of those 6 month handicap placards and it has been sublime.
