And this is the reason I wrote this post. While test driving a Tesla, I did not felt that excitement and thrill other than an instant torque go-kart acceleration.

I'll add by saying that your driving needs may dictate whether it makes sense to get an EV or not. My wife has a long distance commute (90+ miles/day), so the switch to EV has a big impact on our monthly fuel spend. Of course, now with my M3 needing premium, we'll see how that plays out.
On the real, the M3 will be my weekend car, so the fuel cost will really be negligible. |

What also grows are the poor materials quality (not necessarily build), the frustrating customer service, software that removes as many features as it adds, dealing with the whims of Elon and putting up with the Tesla fanatics. If you want an EV, lease an iX. |

+1 for some sort of SUV. Sure you could probably get by with the M3/4, you could also probably eat a steak with a spoon. Things are just easier with the extra space.
When my twins were born I was doing Costco runs for diapers & formula in my Z4M. I can sympathize. Also, congrats on the kiddo |

M4Cx on my side and ‘23 X3 M40 on hers.
I love my M4, but I also love that X3! Plenty of power, good on gas (my wife drives about 1k miles/month), roomy interior, and reliable BMW tech. Easy choice for us. (Oh, and we have 1 kiddo) |

Our X7 is the family hauler. We don't NEED the extra room that it offers, but it's top of the line in terms of comfort and luxury from BMW (excluding new 7 series), and also doesn't suck to drive.

I'd have had a Polestar 2 but couldn't get over the interior size. Not big enough for us. |

We love packing in our kid's friends and cousins for outings. There are so many great memories being in our 3 row SUV.

Depends on how big your family is. My wife and I just have one kid with no plans for others. We also have two large dogs who love to get wet/muddy/sandy/etc. Factoring everything in, our perfect second car is a Toyota Tacoma extended cab with a canopy top. We can go pretty much anywhere on any surface, with the kid and dogs, and don't have to worry about them dirtying up the inside of the car.

Lots of good options proposed here. I'll throw in the Audi SQ5. My wife loves hers. Same chassis as the Macan but more for the money. But, the Macan transmission is better. X3 is also a great choice. Note that the Q5 and X3s are both due for a significant update this coming year.

Macan GTS and Manual M3 is a great combo imo. Both performance cars in their own right, and Macan with air suspension is great for highway cruising

May not be necessary for most but a 3rd row can come in clutch. Wife uses it a lot for carpooling kids to/from sports, apparently somebody always needs a ride when you’re able to. Maybe better to not have it in that case lol

The best is not a car; it’s a truck. Crew Cab F150 Platinum.
Seats 5, Full Leather, all the bells and whistles. Tows a boat, makes Home Depot runs, gets you to the slopes, it does it all. |

The main downside of trucks is the ride, loose handling and fuel consumption. The F150 we had was the V6 TT with 10 speed AT and was plenty fast enough to be entertaining. A hard tonneau cover keeps the truck bed contents dry. The seats in that vehicle were actually cooled (not just ventilated) and were glorious on hot summer days. We have great memories in that vehicle, but now that we have fewer passengers our X3 M40 is substantially more fun to drive. I wish BMW would figure out that real cooled seats are an option most US buyers would pay for. |

My ‘24 G82 M4 is my daily year round and my wife’s is a ‘22 X7.
We have a gaggle of kiddos though and two dogs, plus tow frequently and cart around extra people so the X7 is the right size for us.
