Can confirm
Drive a car with SXM plates for 6 months in NYC and no one gave a damn. Was registered in SXM.

Towed many times due to alternate side parking (NYC parking is the 7th stage of hell, maybe 6th)… anyway, no one cared about the plates or registration.

I did have a US license though.
But, that shouldn’t matter.

This nation has people walking down the sidewalk and getting 80yr old grannies knocked the F out blood on the pavement by complete strangers, for fun.

I wouldn’t worry about the registration of a BMW much. Where I live now, no one even bothers to put a front plate on… and I like it that way.

Street racing through NY isn't probably the smartest thing to do knowing the Touring isn't available in the US, but I digress.
