Disable wireless charging?

Hi all!

Is there a way to disable the wireless charging in my car but keep the nfc for digital key? I just saw that the wireless charging can kill the Apple Pay chip in the new 15's and I would love to avoid that. This charger is useless anyway. A fuse I can pull? Bimmercode?

Thanks
Chris

I don't believe you can turn it off, but FYI you can take your phone out of the area once the car is started. You don't have to leave it in there.

Also I don't think that BMW iPhone issue is very widespread. There's only been a minimal amount of reports, and I've been using my 15 Pro Max with my wireless charger since I got it and don't have any issues.

I'm fairly certain if you put your phone face down it won't charge. My phone gets way too hot in there and I can't use it.

Yep. I do this. However, digital key won't work in that orientation, so you can put it in face up, start the car, then flip it over.

Damn I've never even used the digital key. Theres gotta be a way to shut it off. Isn't known that the cars wireless charging is too slow and cooks your phone?

If your alignment is good with the charger it doesn't actually heat up that much (see Apple's Magsafe). There's no way to shut off the wireless charger.

You could just physically unplug it which would also disable digital key and probably set a shadow code in the car but I don’t think it would cause any issues. If you want a permanent solution you could buy the nfc storage tray without charging capability (p/n 61355A0D8A8) and decode the wireless charging option from your VO. The part is only around $50.
