What is your plan for your G8X

Sell in a year? Keep forever? Garaged show build? Track monster? 60-130 highway king? Grocery getter?

The versatility of this platform is amazing. Unlike many (most) other cars on the market today, this can be made into an incredibly fast race car that can also be a completely reasonable, no compromises daily driver. It has the comfort and tech one would expect in their office commuter, and then can be tuned to run 9s in the quarter-mile. Because of this versatility, the way people use their car is quite varied, unlike some other brands. 911s and Corvettes are largely used as weekend warriors where low mileage and pristine condition is king.

I daily my 6MT M4. My plan is to keep mine til late 2025 and then decide if I want to special order a 2026 G8X or just keep my car for the haul. A friend/coworker of mine has a 2016 M3 that was purchased new and now has over 100k miles as a daily, and is used for everything except family vacation trips. It still looks great. In a way, that's aspirational...to use the car every day for everything, resale value be damned. I'm sure the experience of over 100k miles of seat time in an M3 is worth it.

Planned light mods, mostly cosmetic. No track or drag racing. Used as a light daily driver (around 6k miles per year). Probably keeping 4-5 years.

We tend to keep our cars for 12 years or so. But that was also when we were commuting, which we don't do anymore. So I'll probably have my G80 for a very long time, or at least until my son steals it from me, like he's doing to my 2011 335d when he turns 16 this summer. It will almost certainly be my last ICE car.

It'll get some cosmetic and light performance mods. Nothing crazy, probably intake, tune, midpipe and not a whole lot else.

Used as a second car. Plan to take it out on a good weather day and have some fun on back roads. I am not planning to track it or do extensive mods. Average mileage around 5k miles a year. Planning to keep it for long.

I usually always keep my cars. Have my heavily modded 14 Camaro still that I drive daily. So probably keeping this unless something really tempts me or my wife.

I assumed I would do all the mods I have done on my prior M3's. But this one is my least modded car I've owned.

Ive only added a few things. KW HAS, Intakes, exhaust valve controller, front lip and tint. I'm happy enough. I dont love it like I use to love my other M3's. Those felt more special to me for some reason. This one is just a really really good daily driver to me.

I think my lack of love for the front end makes me NOT want to mod this car much. And with the direction BMW is going. I wonder if this will be my last one. So in my case, Im not going to do much more to mine. I will keep it a year or two and see whats out there at that time. I very well may go right back to Porsche. But I will probably look at 991.2's as both of my 992 911 experiences where not so good.

Daily driver for me, and the occasional track day throughout the year.

Plan to keep it until 50k miles or when the new M5 comes out (1st on the list in Houston)

My current plan is to complete my lease next March, then buy it out without taking out a loan at the current high interest rates. I'd like to keep this car until something radical changes in my life...such as if age-related issues make it unreasonable to drive a manual, or other such.

I actually wish I could say that there's some other vehicle on the horizon over the next few years that excites me and makes me want it, but there really isn't, or not enough to make me actually consider figuring out a swap to a different car.

Planning to keep long term and eventually give to my son. Will likely do DP’s and tune once warranty is out and ECU cracked. Occasional fun lapping and track use. (Manual 2022 M3)

Mine is a daily driver, albeit with low miles since I live pretty close to all the daily activities and I no longer have a commute into the office.

My initial intent was to at least keep the M3 until my balloon payment comes due with the Select financing and then make a decision as to what I was going to do longer term, either buy it out or trade it in for a new post LCI M3.

However, with the rumors looking like the G99 M5 Touring will be brought stateside, my current plan is to get rid of the M3 in favor of that. I believe production of the Touring model won’t start until fall of 2024 so if I’m able to get one of the earlier allocations for it then I should be pretty close to the timeline of when the balloon payment comes up on my Select financing anyways.

I plan on keeping it long term, more than five years and as far as modding goes, I lowered it, ppf and some carbon goodies. Still want to do other mods ut I don't want to rush it and for so eo e that said I ended to do nothing, I'm almost 10k in mods so far. Nothing in my budget excites me unless the new five series blows me away. My first M car so it feels special.

I didn't answer about mods in my first post, but given my uncertainty as to whether this is the keeper or if I'm going to order an LCI M3 as the long term keeper, I'm keeping the modifications light. I don't want to sacrifice any reliability for more power at this stage. I want to do a Perormance Delivery Center order (or a European delivery if that program ever comes back), and have thought the M3 may be better suited to my needs as the kids get older, so I'm still considering that.... but if I decide to just keep the M4 then I'll probably get something as a daily commuter and then start some power mods for it when I'm no longer using it as a daily.

Daily drive mine for the next 5 years and keep it free of aftermarket mods. Also trying to preserve it’s condition with ppf, hand washing etc. as I feel it will be a great last purely iCE m3 to keep in the stable.
When I switch to electric, use if as weekend cruiser.

I was initially planning on keeping it for a few years until the last MY/post-LCI to see if I wanted to get another G8x MT to keep for several years after that.
But the way I'm putting miles on my current car (2600 miles in 1.5 years), I don't think I can justify a trade-in...
We'll see.

Keeping my 6mt until the LCI rolls out. Then very likely going for the post-LCI comp xdrive (and transferring over all my mods (dps, exhaust, coils, etc.)

Plan is to see what changes are for the LCI g80 and either order one to replace my current g80 or look for a different car.

Modding is light. Coilovers, wheels, exhaust, intake and some cosmetic. Nothing major.
