g80 m3 wheel lug socket ???

Quick question, do the m3 come with the socket to remove the lug bolts? I know my x3 m40i came with it. Appreciate the help in advance.

Unless there is one hiding in my car I don’t know about (which could very well be the case) I don’t think so

Do you mean wheel locks? Mine came with a wheel lock key in the glove box. You might want to check under your trunk mat or in the cubby too. You dont need anything to remove the normal bolts other than a socket.

If you don't have a 17mm, this is a very good one.

I'd been using this socket for years, but I've had issues with it on my stock wheels as its a bit short for how concave the wheels are. You'll want an extension with it to keep your torque wrench away from the body or buy a longer socket.

I just bought this one and will be using it this weekend or next to swap back to my summer wheels.

Definitely need an extension for it. Nice find for those who don't have one though.

Really any good quality torque wrench will do. I personally have a Wera one I've had for a few years and it's been fine
https://products.wera.de/en/torque_t...orque_c_4.html
I just have a generic husky 24" breaker bar from home depot

I went with a generic Kobalt torque wrench from Lowe’s and it worked just fine.

Haven’t ended up using a breaker bar as the Kobalt Impact Wrench I got worked great for the task as well.

Still rocking a $9.99 1/2” drive Harbor Freight special torque wrench after nearly a decade.

Keep saying I’ll get a nice one but the thing is still decently accurate for lug duty.

I didn't invest much into torque wrenches TBH.
My 10 - 100 ft.lbs. wrench is a craftsman and the 50 - 250 one is from Home Depot... forgot which brand it was, but it was less than $150 iirc.

What torque rating are we looking for to tighten these down?

I use a Mac Tools torque wrench (don’t remember which model) and the polymer sleeved socket from Burger Motorsports. This combo works great! I believe I am torquing to 104lbs. I’d have to double check because if has been a little while.

Side Note: I do use a 8” extension to keep the wrench away from the body of the car.

Sounds like my G80 will become as familiar with my 100 lbft torque stick as my E90 (88 lbft spec) is with my 90 lbft one.

I save my torque wrench for things where precision is very important. Wheel lugs IMO just need to be "about right", and torque sticks will get you there effortlessly.

Word of warning for those using torque sticks with cordless impacts. They may not be working as intended and can lead to dangerous over torquing.
