Anyone visit BMW Welt, museum, plant?

Planning a trip to Europe this June. Would like to hear your experiences with these venues. Are they doable in one day? I know the plant is a 2 hour tour. Did you reserve tickets/tours well in advance?

I went back in 2019 and I spent most of the day there. I had a great time, if you are in the area it’s a must see visit for sure.

I would highly recommend renting an M car for a day and drive around Munich.

My brother and I visited the Welt in 2015 where we rented an M5 and drove it to Austria. We had a blast. I can't wait to go back. I've done the factory tour in SC several times because I list close. Factory tours in Munich are (or have been) hard to get in to because you have to book so far in advance.

This.

Back in 2012 my wife and I rented an E90 M3 and they provided a great route through the surrounding areas of Munich that you got to drive in lots of winding roads one way and then hit the Autobahn on the way back (hit 240km/h which was a lot of fun).

We didn’t have enough time to do a longer rental (I believe it was 3-4 hrs) but well worth it. The museum tour was great as well. As stated above the Munich tours booked very early, so we couldn’t get that.

But if you’re a BMW keener then it’s a do not miss while hanging out in Munich.

They can be done in a day, for sure. Not sure how far in advance you need to book for the tour, I did it alongside my European Delivery, and we did the tour in the morning, had lunch, then the museum, then a snack, and finally, delivery. It was a long day, but worthwhile.

I've been to the Welt but instead of doing the plant tour, we went to the museum and the Olympic venue. It was amazing! Also rented a car and drove to Innsbruck (Austria)

My son and I were there this past January. No factory tours that month. Certainly go if you are in the area. However, the Porsche Museum was much better.

I did 4 European deliveries and agree with the above that it can certainly all be done in a day. I keep hoping they'll bring ED back, but I doubt it will happen.

I will be visit April 7 with my family so I will let you know. I was able to book a group tour but unable to get the plant tour. You can buy tickets online for the museum but they usually don’t sell out. I bought mine in advance cause I know it’s holiday in Germany during that time.

Yes! Let me know.

I also like the idea of renting an M5.

I'm going to Munich this summer and plan on visiting the museum and factory as well. Curious, when people recommend "renting an M car", is that something you do directly from BMW?

I'm planning on using public transportation while I'm there, but would love to have a car for the day to drive around Bavaria.

I live in Germany and visited the museum and the factory plant last August. If you want to attend the plant tour in English, you will need to reserve your tickets well in advance. I reserved mine for the earliest opening they had which was 3 months from when I called. No reservations are needed for the museum. The factory tour was well worth it! The only way I could make reservations was to call per their directions online. They speak English fairly ok enough to make your reservation.

I spent most of a day at Welt when I did ED in 2018 (my delivery journal is in my signature). You can definitely do it all in one day. Welt is great, but there's not a whole lot to it. I enjoyed the museum a lot. Didn't do the factory tour cause my wife was in crutches. Definitely something every BMW fan should experience if they're in Munich!

It used to be called BMW on demand and you can do it right in the Welt. God I miss doing ED.

A few years ago as part of a business trip (!) was able to visit BMW Welt/Museum, the Mercedes museum and the Porsche museum over two days.
Fascinating, but not unexpected, that the museums truly reflect the brands.
Enjoyed all three. BMW is always worth a visit (heh - we are BMW afficiandos here!) but would go out of my way to visit the Porsche museum again… a stunning collection.
