What Has Been Your Biggest Warranty Claim?

What has been your biggest warranty claim for your G82/3/4? Did dealer give you any issues due to mods?

Had to replace the driver’s side carbon bucket seat because the mechanism to move the seat forward to let people in the back (M4) stopped working. They had to disassemble the entire seat, and ended up finding one tiny clip that had broken. Only way to fix it was getting a whole new seat sent from Germany.

And no, the Jb4 didn’t void the warranty on this

Replaced the 12v power outlet, as didn't work with radar detector plug new. Then, replaced a fuse for the new one. Not exactly a money pit for BMW...hard wired to fuse box now, so outlet would be available for something.

Did the new outlet fit your radar detector? I have to use a bulky adapter for it to work, which I do not like.

Had to have the electric steering motor and other steering parts replaced due to a strange squeaking when turning at times. Parts where apparently AUD$7500.

Dealer replaced the steering wheel. Upon delivery I noticed some scuffs/wrinkles on the bottom side of the steering wheel. You REALLY REALLY had to look for them. Much easier to feel them though.

I get the feeling that if it wasn't an M car, they would have rolled their eyes at me. They replaced it though, $1300'ish.
No mods on the car, waiting till after breakin service.

AUD$7500 is about $1500 US

My passenger door panel was removed, at the break in service. Everything stopped working on that door. I only noticed it because the ambient lighting went out on that door.

Either way, just the plug came undone. They tried to blame it on the tint shop, but I showed them video that the lighting had stopped working before I got the windows tinted. They covered it under warranty.

Hit a pothole and tore the right front wheel up a little. They fixed it under my wheel and tire policy. They also replaced the front left side tire for a roofing nail in it.

Yeah, worked fine until I hard wired it. If you get an add-a-fuse and tap into the fuse box under the passenger dash, solves the problem. I didn't want to spend the money for a mirror wire and fixture. Easy enough to hide most of the cable.

O-Rings (gaskets?) on bank one turbo were leaking coolant. Apparently they were buggered up when the engine was built. Had to ship replacements from Germany to make the repair. Don’t recall how much the claim was but it had a ton of labor hours according to the service advisor.

Is the wheel and tire warranty an add on and part of ultra care +? I didn’t see it stand alone when I did my custom order.

It’s going to be dealership dependent. Every dealer carry’s whatever they carry in warranty packages. The wheel & tire and windshield packages are extra. Most dealers want an arm and a leg. I would keep refusing until you get it down to the price that you want. Negotiate it into the deal. The 826m are about $800-$1,000 per wheel and then the tires. I paid like $1,600 for my wheel and tire. They wanted like $2,600 when we started talking about it. It’s already repaired a wheel and replaced a tire.

Not really warranty, but dealer updated the map for me after I paid for the update. It froze up several times on them and it went from “Pick it up in an hour” to “Uhh, it’s frozen, everything is frozen. We are hoping to have it done before we close”. It was in the shop over 9 hours.

Probably same sign as any other slipping clutch. The RPMs freely rev while the car is in gear and driving. Like you can try to accelerate and the rpm’s move but the car doesn’t feel like it’s accelerating. That’s clutch slip.

Got it. And assuming it can be redeemed at any dealer once purchased?

It actually depends on the plan. The dealer will tell you where’s you can use it. CNA is one of the biggest warranty companies. And they’re actually really good.

Oof, CNA like...CNA the insurance company? I used to do consulting work that was sometimes covered under cyberinsurance and...CNA stood for "Coverage Not Available."
