Given that this is a pretty solid and developed car, a BMW M3 in Canada runs about 100K, this is 118 USD which is probably about 157K cad plus 25% tax and other theft charges from the government and tax upon tax. It is still a good deal.

The mods from a M3 comp run up to 60k easily to make it handle better plus all carbon bits, wheels lowering brakes etc... grill 3500 USD For the front bumper etc... The CS is a nice improvement over the M3 comp.

Sadly it is far from and definitely not a 911 or possibly a GT4 hunter on the straights.

The M3 I had was fun was very fast mid range 100-275... but had many shortfalls as brakes, numb steering and handling, poor resale. What solved all those issues was a 911. .... That did everything well including retaining value.

That said the M3 CS is a damn good deal even at this price range as it gives someone the joy to ride in an amazing car and maybe they will dare to track it.

in normal markets a lightly used model year old C4S will depreciate to 120-130 range .
I had one and had F80 CS which I loved
but I will take a 992 C4S over M3 any day

Point is this excuse that a manual tranny and clutch can’t handle the power seems very unlikely. Would be a small incremental cost at best.

My guess is the math says the take rate isn’t high enough.

Only recent activity that bucks the trend is the 911 GT3…not sure that is apples to apples, but I think the Manual take rate on that was >50%.

$118k with no carbon brakes seems a little steep. But I’m sure they’ll move the limited number they are producing.

Saw the comment on driveability…which I agree with 100%.

The RPS clutch was like a leg press machine. Reminds me of my 997 911 GT2, I have to stand on the clutch to shift. It does make for a hell of an engaging car though 🤪.
Funny enough I have a 997 gt3 with a 4.1 stroker with a gt2rs clutch and flywheel. My cup car that I race is a 996 cup (manual trans) with rps clutch. It cracks me up when people try and convince me the manufacturer can't make the car with an adequate clutch to handle the power or say BuT tHe AuTo iS FaSTeR....... 99% of these comments are from dudes who never track their car, are obsessed with 0-60 times, and think cars and coffee is a sporting event....

The severely limited production on these cars are going to land them in the hands of collectors and "content creators" and it'll be rare to see one anywhere. Nice car, and not outrageously priced, but even if I could get my hands on one, I'd probably feel compelled to not drive it that much due to its limited production.

I like looking at special, limited production cars like this, but don't know that I'd want to own one.

Only 75 lbs lighter than m3 comp? That and the poor color options (inside and out) would make it a pass for me. $25k or so I can spend on my own upgrades to a regular M3 comp. Guessing that can get me 40 more hp.

But I get it, limited production, I am sure it will sell out and have markups on top of that, better use or money than the Jahre edition I guess.

I didn’t see any 1/4 mi numbers posted yet but that’s 10.9 territory with the weight and little extra power.

The SMG was at least dramatic though I got rid of my SMG E60 M5 after 6 weeks. I don’t think the E46 csl would have gone so well with a slush box.

According to who? Dealers still got $15k over msrp for the Jahre (and that was just badging) you won’t be able to get this at msrp. Car market is still insane for anything people think is limited.
For all those saying “Porsche…” it’s the same thing. Dealers in Chicago area still can’t get 911 or 718s and when they do they are top specd and marked up. Sad when all you see 4S Carreras for $180,000 and they sell it within a week.

The ZF8 is pretty phenomenal, worlds faster than the SMG. Not as fast as the DCT, but smoother.

I think the car will be great, since the normal M3CX is a monster, there is no doubt that the CS will be something special!

The only thing I would change are the wheels, but not in a sense that I would change the wheels itself, but I would like bi-color wheels much better!

I did a quick photoshop:

[IMG][/IMG]

The bi-color wheels in my opinion look so much better, they are not that flashy, and optically they look bigger!

It is a shame the BMW is not providing this option (the same thing applies to the 20+21" BMW 1000M Performance Wheels), but I would definitely paint the wheels if I get them

That’s more a personal opinion thing. I’m not a fan of bicolored wheels and I’m happy with the wheel choice here.

I bet plenty of CS models will be had without a markup. The market has definitely shifted since June, and I think Porsche is in their own league right now. It is really the only true high end sports car that is light, has the following and comes in manual.

I’m already seeing lightly used G80s well below MSRP. Even the M2 CS and M5 CS are back down to MSRP in the real world.

The F87 CS has very few competitors, especially in 6MT. The G80 CS with an automatic and nearly 2 tons, puts its in the same boat as the AMG sedans and the RS Audis.

Don’t get me wrong, the G80 CS seems like a great purchase at $118K, but with some alternatives you’d really need to have it. I don’t think anyone that’s been following the market would believe the can buy the new CS at ~$125K after taxes and expect to flip it for a profit.

I follow the car market closely as cars are my hobby and I switch around cars a lot even before this crazy market .
you are talking about the market 6 months ago
the M3 target consumer will not shell out 120 k for M3 , so the chance adding ADM will be unsuccessful
yes you can read a story or two that one sold with ADM , but most if not all will sell for MSRP plus a discount that might be significant if the economical decline is significant
and for your information , 911 market has cooled down to a lessor degree as compared to other cars
no dealer is selling a C4S now for 180 k
