Ive seen dozens of posts about it. I dont know the specific reason, and it would only apply to the brakes themselves. I would presume because there is no way to tell whether or not the calipers were taken apart to be painted? I dunno. Im not saying dont do it, and Im not saying its never been done, Ive done it on Evos, myself. I just didnt want to mess with CCBs, too many factors.

I look at risk as probability and impact. The probability of something going wrong with the brakes and BMW blaming the painted calipers is very low in my opinion. Now if one had the CCBs then the impact ($) would be very high. So I understand your concern!

All Id need to do it pick up a rock, which Brembos are famous for picking up, and the rock gouges a 2mm ring around the back side of the rotor, and Im out $4,500 for a new rotor. Where they may cover something like that under bumper to bumper. Im seeing guys getting brembo calipers replaced, because the paint is peeling off of them, under warranty.
