I doubt there will be any innovation here - R44 has this maxed out / there's no room to do anything else under the constraints of the top opening. (theoretically, you could move the spoiler forward towards the cabin a bit and get more height, but it would look doofy (iirc, old 6 convertibles did this?)

Anyway, R44 is definitely the best option here. The 3d design one.. Is.... Um... Not attractive, and crazy expensive.

My R44 rear spoiler hits

So I looked through the forums, checked out the R44 rear spoiler. I watched install videos. The spoiler looks great on my alpine white G83, but it hits.

I reached out to R44 and got a quick response, supposedly rear deck lid can be adjusted and mine was set a bit lower by the factory.

Anyone know how or any place in New Hampshire that would be able to adjust? Would a dealer do it?

I love the look of it as the G83 looks better with it, just need to figure out how our who can adjust.

Well I'm hoping for the best regarding fitment and ordered the G83 spoiler from R44 this morning. Fingers crossed.

The R44 is a fantastic spoiler. Quality and finish are spot on. It definitely gives the G83 a bit more of an aggressive look.

Thank you. fwiw, they seem to be on top of their game now on the fulfillment side. I ordered the spoiler a few hours ago and already have a DHL tracking number showing delivery in three days.

So I received my spoiler and did a test fit and bummer, the roof hits it when retracting. Tie or Zach, any ideas for a fix?

In multiple forums, here is what I found. No one has heard of adjusting the rear deck cover with any mechanical stop.

I have heard of many others where it hits. The solution that I heard is to put some rubber padding under the rear deck so that hits the spoiler. I picked up a few different types of padding to try when I get back from my business trip.

Will update

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not surprised by the lack of rear deck lid adjustment. That didn't seem quite right to me. My roof hits the spoiler with quite a "clank". It's a bit of a cringe-worthy sound and when I stop the roof movement at that point, the spoiler is pretty firmly lodged under the roof. So I'm not really feeling great about an extra padding layer. I love the look and hope there's a resolution, but I fear that there are slight manufacturing anomalies that are causing this issue for some and not for others.

I agree with the clank, it is harsh.

I like the look and I figured I would try some padding first.

Like you, I am hoping someone here has a solution and that includes R44Zach

I just fit my Autotecknic spoiler that I think is quite similar to the R44 one, and it seems to have the same clearance issue.

I put a couple pieces of soft weather stripping foam on the underside of the cover panel and that seems to be working out quite well.

I'll try and grab a picture of the underside tomorrow.

The only thing I'm unsure of is I believe that specific location where I put the foam is where the panel touches the car's built-in weather stripping. It's a soft foam so it should just compress and, well, it is weather stripping itself, so I think it shouldn't be an issue, but I'll keep an eye on it next time it rains. For now it seems to be working out.

That sounds like a much better solution than mine, keep us posted!

Spoke to the foreman at my dealer and he told me they can't do it.

I spoke to a service advisor who seemed to be under the impression it could be done, but officially the word I got from the dealer is that they can't do it.

Well that's a real bummer. I'll probably get my car in over the next 10 days, but now I'm not very hopeful.

I got this reply from Gordon from Autoteknic btw:

Quote:
Sorry to hear that happened, but this has been brought to our attention and the mold is currently being revised for better fitment. With that said, we can offer you a refund or a replacement, the choice is yours to make. If you are interested in a replacement, I want to note that we do not currently have an ETA at this point in time. We do not need the item back so please dispose of it.
Great customer service, but sadly doesn't look like we have an option yet.

Well, honestly you've got to appreciate their candor and acceptance of ownership of the issue.

Yep. I haven't decided if I'll have mine removed or not (I probably will have it removed) but I'll almost certainly be in when their replacement is ready.

MHC G83 Spoiler *Disclaimer*

Hey all,

Sorry if any of you guys felt a bit left in the dark with this, I've just had new born and was away from everything while she settled in.

After speaking with MHC in regards to a few repeat issues with contact, we noticed as times gone on and with the newer cars; the adjustment they once made that could be moved (and possible still can) has now become the standard specification...

Such a small and what seems to be pointless adjustment has now of course thrown out all the hard work that ourselves and MHC have done to get these fitting literally perfectly.

We are here to assist anyone that didn't manage to get in touch with the support team so just drop me a message if there is anything you need help with. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Our official disclaimer bellow:

*DISCLAIMER* We have received reports that late 2023 production vehicles are having issues with the roof going too far back from the factory. This means the spoiler may make contact when opening and closing the convertible roof. If you have a vehicle from summer 2023 onwards, we do not advise fitting this spoiler.

Hey Zach, congrats on the new baby. Also, thanks for stepping up and taking ownership of this issue. Could you let me, and others here that own effected cars, know what to do with the spoilers we purchased but were unable to install? I have everything repackaged. Can it be returned for a refund?

Thanks again.

Hey so if everyone experiencing the issue can get in contact directly we will be able to handle the issue most efficiently and get everyone sorted.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding this isn't something us nor MHC could see coming so sorry again for any inconvenience.
