Someone's in for a bad day when you discover the cost of two M4 door cards in full Merino leather. Might your or the installer's insurance cover the damage?

Attorney for that one. No one in Texas would get away with that.

Tbh I just want to move on and forget about him, there's no getting away from the fact he's taken the shine off the full new car experience for me. I won't drive the car until it's back to 'new' again. Every time I look at it I just get pissed off about what happened so it's parked up for now in the garage. Regretting those bi-fold glass doors in my garage now as I can still see the car when it's in there 🤣 Sorry. Just making light of a crap situation.

Todays update.:
BMW has received payment from the Tint company for the total amount. I'm glad that this part is put to bed and he has taken responsibly for the damage. The door assembly is on back order so I'll have to wait a while to get my car back to normal. What a week, no more window tints for me 😊

That's a great result, I was sure he would have avoided payment. You should take a deep breath and get back to enjoying the car knowing BMW will fix it perfectly when the parts arrive
I think I mentioned I had tints badly installed and separately I was not 100% happy with the PPF. Then I had a valet parking garage scratch the car for the second time while arguing over paying for the first time they scratched it. They would only fix it using their approved garage which i wouldn't have been comfortable using, but they ended up ghosting me anyway and refused to pay anything! I just didn't have the time to chase them on it between work and kids and a new born etc so will have to suck it up and have it repaired correctly myself when I have time. Luckily most of the damage was on the corner front splitters which were only $180 so I have them sitting around ready to install. I will get the small scratch on the bumper repaired when the weather improves and then go back to the PPF guy and make him do a better job! |

Now your left with a constant reminder of the bad experience and I understand exactly how you feel. When you have time yes, you'll get it fixed but it's just a pita. Thankfully for both of us the repairs should be enough to get back to where we were before it happened. I'm hoping the bumper scratch you have is on the ppf and if not it can be removed by a professional. In my 'new car,new garage' thread that I started it's worth noting that the reason I took on the building of a new extension and garage myself was down to one thing. I decided that I couldn't deal with having the work done by others, as much as it's been a very challenging process to self build I do believe it's been a lot less stressful than dealing with poor workmanship and service from others. Funnily enough apart from the weather conditions occasionally causing havoc the only stress came with the few specialist trades I had to employ. It's a sad fact that their is a lot of BS out there and no one ever seems to show you or your property respect. Of course there is the odd diamond in the rough but it's few and far between.

Thankfully yes. At least I can move forward now, just a bad experience and glad it's now in the hands of BMW.
Cheers

Yes thanks. He has paid the money to BMW now so at least that's the hard part out the way.

The cars parked up in the garage until it's 100% again. The fact it's a few weeks old makes it difficult for me to jump in and enjoy it with the damage right where I'm sitting, maybe now that the parts are ordered I'll feel ok about using it again. Cheers 🥃😊

Wow I've never seen a job done that bad....ever. Our family has had probably close to 30 cars done over the last 10-15 years at a local hole in the wall shop here.
That looks like it's going to be expensive...did you get a quote yet? I wouldn't want the guy who damaged the car touching it again, I'd have the dealer install the parts & the tint guy foot the bill. That's what shop insurance is for. My guess is around $2000 installed. |

At least that's it in the hands of BMW now. You were close regarding cost, it's £2200 ($3k) I'll give him the damaged door card and maybe he can get some money back in the long run. Needless to say I'll be leaving the windows stock now. Thanks

It should really have been the same for me, I won't be trying a second shop that's for sure.
Cheers

Finally the new door card arrived from Germany. My BMW service department called me and I dropped the car off to finally get it sorted.
Unfortunately they called soon after to tell me that the new part came without the speaker grill, also they informed me that the grill is bonded to the door card (can't understand why it wasn't delivered with it) So, the saga rolls on. I still have a car that's brand new with damage that pisses me off so much I don't want to drive it. So now I have to wait again. Just goes to show how how a simple window tint can become a PITA. First world problem for sure, but in a world full of madness right now I just want the fckin car I waited so long for back to the way it was when I collected it. Then I can go for a drive in my 'bubble' and for a moment forget about everything else. Hate that tint guy, sorry.

Hang in there. I can only imagine how difficult it is. I'm sure the dealer would know, but too bad they cannot remove the grill from the old panel and affix it to the new one.
