Dammit I broke my gray outer ring while doing the install. Any idea what the replacement part info or number is for the gray ring? Thanks.
The silver ring itself?
Yes. Exactly.
Unfortunately, BMW doesn't sell that part separately.
So what is the part that contains it? The media head unit? Do you have the part number?

I've done 4 of them last week alone. Took 4-5 minutes max.
If you don't care about the stock one, you can look in G05 forum on how they did the glass control volume button.

Update:

Found better video. But still didn’t complete the task.

I broke a ring using the method in the video that you posted.

The plastic tool pry the bottom of the silver ring.
I don't think it is very sketchy, it is a common sense since we are trying to take off the silver ring.

Yeah, there isn't much gap between the silver ring and the button base to wedge the trim tool in between.
I put a nice scratch on it following the microfiber/towel method.

I looked up P/N 61317949454 for the whole audio control assembly on ebay and they were anywhere from $80-$120 for a used one.

Couldn't stomach paying that much for a plastic piece, so I got this instead:

I had it dialed so it doesn't show from my POV, and used only the steering wheel buttons since.
Couldn't stand doing so any longer.
I know it looks tacky, but it's better than looking at the gouged knob.

Like I've said many times, you can find out the method that G05 X5 guys if you don't care about the stock button.
Glass control volume button is a thing for G05 X5, G06 X6, and G07 X7 guys.
They have been doing it for 2 years a least.

I ended up doing this same thing but with the red button. I'm afraid some of us have rings that are more affixed than others so there is a chance that you can end up with a scratched or broken ring as part of this.

It does look good though even with the aluminum ring. I'll post a pic soon.

I was able to change the button super quickly and easy. If you want to match color with other ones take Satin finish. I asked IND on a forum which one should I choose, he recommended me a glossy. But my buttons is in Satin finish. End it up installing….temporary…have to reorder now

It is preference.
Based on my sales record, it is 50/50 between Gloss and Satin.
