The one that YOU like the best.
Seriously. After reading another recent drive impressions thread from a MT owner driving a xDrive comp https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...hp?t=2102330It reinforces what I’ve been saying all along. There is NO BAD G8X. Transmission, seats, leather interior, xDrive, exec pack, laser headlights, whatever. Buy what YOU want, and more importantly, value. Not the next guy. Not a car reviewer and not what someone on the internet tells you is “best”, a “must have”, “essential”, etc. I’ve been fortunate enough to drive I think most every variant of G8X, but not in every combo. But driven all three drivetrains, and all three body styles. Each has their own highs and lows. Where those line up with your values is entirely dependent on what you want out of it and what your past experiences have been. We’ve devolved into a society that gains pleasure and acceptance for tearing each other down. For arguing why “I am right and you are wrong” on such pointless trivialities as which G8X BMW is best. When you take a step back and look at it from a holistic view, this is an amazing car with stupendous performance and truly top 3 of a blend of everyday performance and reliability. Only the Alfa and CT5 BW are in the same league, period. And those are also “pick your flavor”. So, let’s continue to celebrate this car still comes with a manual, and in so many versions, and it’s not priced like a GT3, eh? Last edited by Needsdecaf; 05-06-2024 at 01:07 PM.. |

Agreed.
I’ve seen too many ‘MT cars are not in the same league as my Xdrive cars’ pretentiousness here. |

I guess it is called maturing, but when you hit the point where you aren't worried about or persuaded by what other people tell you that you should like, and can ignore negative opinions about your choices, it's liberating. Pick your poison... be it cars, watches, restaurants, alcohol, music/audio equipment... you name it, and there are people that have strong opinions about what's good and what isn't, and then like to get on the internet to tell everyone else what they should like. Tune them out.

When I think of the best M version you can buy, is the convertible M4 Competition G83 with xDrive. Not only it looks more exotic, but the driving dynamics are just as good as the coupe, it is as fast as the coupe, It is as quiet as the coupe with the top up, but the sound and experience with the top down is amazing!
Driving a G83 with the top down will make you feel so free and happy and will put a huge smile on your face. The windscreen, the neck warmer, the heated seats, and the heated steering will keep you cozy, even during a cold night cruise. And when you want total privacy, you can put the top up at 30 miles per hour and drive it like a coupe. The new top is so sturdy that feels just like a hard top coupe. To be honest, I really don't understand why so few people opt for a G83. Maybe it is the higher MSRP or maybe because everyone thinks they are going to be racing drivers and take the car to the track everyday. but when you really think about it, most people never take their M cars, not even once, to a track day. In the meantime, they miss out of the experience of driving a convertible M with 500+ hp everyday. Take my word for it, there is nothing that compares to driving a machine like the M4 G83 with the top down. Also, you can make it look super cool with all the same mods as the coupe. To me, the best M is the convertible M4 G83! Last edited by NB STIG; 05-05-2024 at 09:23 PM.. |

The best version is the one that you spec'ed for yourself. Ordered it, watched the calendar as its build week approached.
Tracked the ship across the ocean ( bonus points for live cam pics of the ship in the Panama Canal), that's the best configuration in my experience. We all pick the variations we want and that's the best thing about the car , it can be so many different things. |

In the end it is whatever works for you. Also wish the touring wagon was available in NA. I am still surprised that BMW didn’t make it available. I believe the Audi RS6 has been a success. |

I have a serious question.
What is the best spec for a bodybuilder? I’m assuming not the carbon buckets. Lmk if this question is better as a new thread |

Not to further derail OP's post, but it's entirely dependent on your measurements. There really isn't a one size fits all option, though the sport seats are more accommodating than the buckets. There's a ton of threads on this, but it all comes back to one thing, if you aren't "standard sized" you will want to actually sit in any seat option you're considering just to make sure you fit.

The touring is arguably the best version. I have a base/manual M4 and like it a lot.
