Correct. The above post is flat wrong. S3, traction control fully off, 2nd gear (RWD only), hard pin brake pedal followed closely by accelerator floored past kickdown switch, wait for ready indicator (~1sec), release brake pedal, trans does all the shifting.

Many with high powered cars put it in S3 and start in 2nd gear and foot brake instead of using launch control to control wheel spin. I haven’t tested a 2nd gear start to see if LC is enabled but my understanding is for X-Drive cars it isn’t. (Tuner can set it to work though). If he’s able to use 2nd and activate LC that’s the best option to try next as it’ll shift on its own, otherwise foot braking and shifting yourself is the best thing to try. Doing a quick burnout to clean off the rear tires will help and make sure you launch in 4WD mode and not 4WD sport. (Test this with 1st and 2nd gear launches) I’m heading out later today in the car and will test if 2nd gear LC works (Sport plus, S3, DSC off, comfort suspension) and will report back if it does. (Stock ‘24 X-drive)

I understand, my comment was meant to indicate that for RWD, 2nd is mandatory. He actually never mentioned he properly engaged LC - that could be most of his issue.

2nd gear LC does work on the xdrive as well. If you see the "preparing launch control" message on the cluster then the car will autoshift in S3, starting either from 1st or 2nd. If you don't see the preparing message for whatever reason, then it won't autoshift.

My statement was a recap for successful LC for either model and noting 2nd was required for RWD only. There was some misinformation about LC and it seems the OP may not have successfully engaged LC so i thought it would be helpful to recap.

R888’s all around and make sure they are nice and hot. At only 700 , you should not be having that much slip! I don’t drag race the GTR anymore but at around 1000 wheel the R888’s are getting out matched. Definitely need boost by gear if your using 20” tires and trying to cut low ET’s. If your hell bent on doing the drag racing, go 18” and get a sticky ass tire. I hate the look of big sidewall slicks so never will go below 20”. F drag racing anyway Roll racing is the tits. Plus you don’t break as
