I'm thinking the aftermarket will offer some nice options but to get BMW-like quality the price isn't going to be less than $3k buying them in bits & pieces. Then there's installation and what to do with the stock parts. I'll pay a premium for OEM but I want to make sure the color of the car allows the CF parts to pop, unlike on Black or Dravit Grey for example! They will look perfect on colors like Alpine White or Brooklyn Grey.

Looks great!
I'm really liking it. Front rotor detail, wow! Back end picture, bad ass! 275's upfront, massive! The seats, what a pop of color! Enjoy. |

I don't understand the grill. I just can't get over it. Sideline view looks like a Mustang, which isn't a diss, but bland. Whoever is designing M cars needs to be fired. Immediately.

Have you seen one in person? I'm like most other people: in person, the grill isn't nearly the issue it seems to be from the press photos.

I was most worried of the full "automatic" feeling after driving my E90 manual for so long with no complaints. By setting the ZF shift settings to the most aggressive of 3 built in settings BMW gives you , I honestly felt like I was behind a much more potent race car , and then to keep those settings and then just use the paddle shifters instead to do my own shifts.... it made my smile bigger and bigger.... there is so many options to adjust, I can't imagine with future over-the-air downloads, why each driver can't get the setting they enjoy the most. Enjoy your rides ... even after Day 2 of driving it... i know I am glad I took the cold plunge with nothing more than faith in BMW M that they iterate on feedback and use the Nürburgring to extract as much as they can with the technology available today. Thanks for all the kind words and wishes, there are enough options for everyone based upon their budget, their priorities, and how they will practically use their vehicle.. either for looks or for full on track/racing. Its a new foundation, and I look forward to the inspiring pictures of what others do to their future cars.... |

I just had a great look at Brooklyn Grey at my dealer this weekend. Need to find a way to downscale the pics to upload...

The sensor array placement is odd, and agree it throws off the symmetry, but being an engineer, i frankly can't find another place BMW could have placed it otherwise. If the license plate ever makes it onto the front, it will distract from the sensor placement and all will be ok! |

It's odd... I could not wrap my brain around how the car looked as I looked at it and how the pictures I took make it look... sounds silly but you have to walk up to this car and walk around it... such a different feel from ALL the pictures I've been pouring over.
