Do you have issues with the R7 rattling? I didn't notice it when I had it mount to the windshield with the suction mount but once I hard mounted it to the mirror it was very noisy. I'm wondering it its just my particular one. I hate rattles!

Nope. Upgrade necessary.

Yes I hate rattles too. Mine was from where the top of the detector rests on the hard pad on the blendmount. I changed mine out with a piece of weather stripping cut to same size that was a little more spongy or absorbing and the sound is gone.

Hardwiring Radar Detector - Fuse Box

Ok - I am trying to hardwire my radar detector and I can not seem to find a fuse box diagram for my G82 M4 2024 - Even a 2023 would be fine. I can not seem to be able to find a power source in the fuse box that is active. I know this sound very noobish but looking for someone that has experience with this.

Suggest you hard wire your radar detector to your mirror and hard wire a dash cam to the fuse box.

^^This. In conjunction with the V1Driver app.

The best thing about the V1 is the packaging. It's the only slim design detector that allows mounting above the rearview mirror. It's mounted high for better outward range, but is well hidden from outside view. And it doesn't interfere with the passenger-side visor. In practice, I look up at the V1 like I'm glancing at the rearview mirror.

For me, it's the packaging that makes the V1 the best choice.

Valentine One (V1) - radar detector

-Always same style. (Gwagon)

-Upgrade your V1 like a PC. (Example 5 years later you can send your old radar and they will upgrade hardware and software for you for around 25$)
(*Meanwhile other brands announcing new gens every 2-3 years which is kind of “buy it again” ?

-Hardware/software support
(example my set up: "Ka band only with filter-L" (This set up detects only police radars. Always dead quiet if no triggers)

-Use V1 app once. (Open app set up ur settings/ delete app, or never use app again. All your settings forever stored in device )

- Packaging (accessories, everything you need....everything)

-Customer support level “family”. (Lost warranty/something broke/calling to say hi/ they are there for you with 101% of support)

There is nothing better for me than all that facts……cuz in the end they are all doing same thing....

I have zero interest in running an app while driving. Been told the R7 or R8 are the way to go in my case. I do prefer the form factor.

In the end, the V1 Gen 2, R7 and R8 all test similar to each other and the Escort Max 360. Comes down to what feature set you like. No wrong answer.

What’s your mounting details? Are you sure its not so high that you miss alerts from the rear facing antenna ? Also, do you like V1Driver better than V1 companion?

Mine is a G83 vert and I drive with the top down at least 95% of the time, so there are no issues with the rear facing antenna's line of sight. My guess is that the more upright rear window of the G80 would be ok as well, but you'd need to check the line of sight for the G82 coupe. Its rake may present a problem.

I've used Valentine's standard mounting bracket with the detector tapped into the rearview mirror.

The reviews for V1 companion are that it's better than V1Driver. However, unless something's changed, it's Android only and I live in the Apple world.

Thanks. I just got my V1 and have it mounted in my F30 with a mirror mount for now. Planning on the G80 install when my car arrives. FYI, the V1 Companion is IOS only, not android. I’ve tried it but not the V1 Driver yet..

How is it mounted to the windshield? Included suction or something else? And what tap did you buy? Any tutorials you can share that you followed for another G83 brother

I got it wrong and had to refresh my memory.

There's V1 Connection, which is Valentine's app that comes with the detector. I have it installed but don't use it.

There's V1 Companion, which is a 3rd party app. I don't know much about it, but am now going to look into it.

There's V1 Driver, another 3rd party app. It's what I use.

There's JBV1, another 3rd party app, which is Android-only and the one with the best reviews.

I used the suction cup mount that comes with the unit.

But I've gotta confess, that I liberally used the pronoun "I". In truth, my installer installed it for me along with a Blackvue dashcam, so I can't be much help on the install method. I just know it's tapped thru the mirror.
