docked at Baltimore. finally.

now if they can just hurry up and get underway again. (make sure not to run into those three submarines currently sitting in Chesapeake Bay... one near Annapolis and the other two under the bridge)

Brunswick is waiting!

I'm now showing as "in transit". Based on my understanding, that could either mean that it has flown through customs and VPC and is on its way or just that a carrier has been assigned. Either way, progress!!!!!!

on BMW USA website, mine has been showing "in transit" since April 3.

I don't know if this is a good sign or a bad sign, but when I click on "track status" on that page, it brings up a blank page that says

"We're sorry. An error occurred and My BMW Garage is unavailable at this time"

(prior to today, it brought up the actual status page plus the color/options/equipment) Perhaps now the ship has entered the US, they are updating stuff? Although mine is still presumably on the ship.

I had that issue as well (i.e., MyGarage not being available). Eventually I was able to get in and view the status. I was at the second "in-transit" stage .....in-transit, at the port, in transit, so hopefully that indicates that my car is done riding around on a boat since Baltimore is my final port. Wishing you a speedy trip down to Brunswick! Thanks for all the help in tracking our progress over the past couple weeks! I feel like I know more about naval logistics than I ever wanted to at this point

Cheese: Their shipping schedule indicates that it is a one-day affair. I would imagine that they’ll be hustling to get back on schedule for 4/19 in Brunswick. Now VPC is another matter….Haggis suggested big-time delays (1-3 weeks) getting cars through. Fingers crossed for you.

too bad nobody else sells and delivers cars to customers like Tesla.

two of my friends had a great time buying from Tesla. Placed the orders online... waited... payment was taken care off completely online. got emails a week before the cars were ready. confirmed delivery date and address. the new Teslas was dropped off in their driveway.(they didn't even have to be home) signed the documents left in the car and mailed them back.. they were driving and enjoying their new cars within minutes.

Come one, BMW! there's no shame in copying the Tesla buying experience! Okay, so it'll never happen, but still...

holy cow! that was FAST!

Donington just left Baltimore a few minutes ago! They were only there for less than 15 hours.

Next stop. Brunswick! (keeping my fingers crossed)

Edit: spoke too soon.... it's moving northwest and being escorted by two tug boats.. so I guess it's just moving to another pier in Baltimore harbor to load or unload other cars?

oh well... I waited this long, what's another few more days?

here's the video of the Donington caught on Maryland traffic cam on I-695(FSK Bridge) at 7:30PM.

It was moving from Sparrow Point to Dundalk. (both piers show "BMW" on Google Maps)

where is the 3rd pier at Baltimore that it's going to move to before finally departing for Brunswick, Georgia?

your can may still be on the Donington as of 7:30PM.... no idea which pier it will unload

@seirk said the last time at Baltimore, the Donington moved to three different piers

Yeah sorry guys. Its usually a 36 hrs affair.

Sparrows Point - is BMW
Atlantic - Chrysler, Mercedes etc
Dundalk - Fleet vehicles

Once it leave Baltimore, it reaches Brunswick in about a day baring any storms etc. Brunswick VPC clears in about 2-3 days and then they will contact you for PCD date. sometime it may take 5 days its it comes before a wknd.

Here is a brief explantion

https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...9&postcount=55

We had the misfortune of Tropical storm/Hurricane Nicole and it took 5 days to get to Brunswick. This was the pattern the Donnington did before it docked. Good luck !!!

I haven't asked my BMW CA yet... but if the Donington arrives on 4/21 but somehow the car doesn't make it to the dealership by 5/7 (17 days?), I wonder what will happen.... because I will be going to Switzerland, Denmark and Japan for a total of at least 7 weeks on 5/8 and it absolutely cannot be changed.(last minute business trip that I just found out this morning because the guy who was supposed to go just got promoted to another office)

I suppose that they can handle all the transactions over the phone and handle the delivery without me being physically there... but I wonder if they'll charge me for 7 weeks of parking?

Yikes, thats cutting it too close. I would say, if VPC takes max 5 days and transit takes another 2-3 days, it should arrive at the dealership before you leave. Otherwise, once it clears VPC and has a estimated dealer arrival date, you can walk into the dealership and complete all the paperwork ahead of time (or do verisign stuff) and complete the loan payment etc and may have to negotiate with the dealer to store ur car for 7 weeks inside the dealership (not in a parking lot) but wouldnt ask them that until you have completed the paperwork and have a SOLD sign on it. I wouldnt trust the dealer who promises to hold it for 7 weeks before its sold as he or she is going to turn around and sell it with ADM if they know u rnt gonna pick it up in 30 days which is what the contract usually says.

The system is updating and it looks like it will be leaving US DDQ and heading to Brunswick. Guess it only made two stops in Baltimore this time. ETA says 4/21 in Brunswick.

the tug boats seemed to have moved into position behind the Donington right now.

sure hope that they don't sail to the Mercedes pier on the west side and park for another night. (although it seems more likely that they'll head straight out of the Bay and head towards Brunswick!)
