With appreciation to Imran@Evolve for sharing his 1/4 mile data. I compiled the numbers from the first 5 stock runs (before the beta Eventuri intakes were installed) and placed next to the top 8 runs from our Stock X3MC category found in the F97/98 !/4 mile thread [ https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1444613 ].
Results as predicted but interesting to see actual data showing how 'Cd x A' (and weight) can influence interval times in vehicles with otherwise similar engines. Suspect the AWD may run in the 11.3xx range? Edit 6 Jul 2021 – I appreciate Imran’s PM discussions in which he shared formal drag slip data for his 5 stock runs, the actual DA, his octane rating and his tire psi (OEM standard rec). This has improved the analysis so I’ve replaced the preliminary spreadsheet with this final version. Would be interesting to also add formal slips from a stock X5MC as suspect it should be very close to these ETs. A rather unique collection of vehicle styles and sizes to run such similar fast times. The G80 is building boost until it says "launch control ready" and after the ready message comes up, it has reached whatever boost level they target for the launch and you need to launch within 5 seconds or the system will disengage to prevent excess heat and wear from having the system loaded up for too long. |

If awd launches it first gear i think you might be able to get better times if the brake is released during the “preparing launch control” message due to hooking up better.

I don't think you will be worrying about traction with the AWD at only 500 HP. Unless the boost is some crazy number on the launch which I highly doubt!!

The AWD system from BMW is really good and arguably better than my departed E63S with 4Matic Plus.

I have a GTR as well as my M4 Competition. With the GTR in Launch Control one has only 3-4 seconds to launch. If one does not launch within that time frame the launch control function shuts down as a safety precaution regarding the DCT transmission clutch overheating. I learned while at the drag strip to let the other guy stage first therefore I did not have to stay in launch control too long.
