It takes 5 seconds to apply it, and they do it to every car that comes in. It's only a question as to who is gullible enough to pay for it.

Congrats on taking delivery! Sharp looking car. I also agree on not doing stealth PPF. I like the color as it is.
Sorry to hear about your dealer issues. It's amazing to me how some of these places continue to operate. My dealer had some confusion on ordering individual colors which I did the legwork on to push it through. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad an experience as what you had.
Definitely looking forward to the post PPF and ceramic shots.

Looks perfect. I would do a Grigio over cinnamon or Aragon bucket seats.

I'm curious why you didn't go for another F-Type?

Also, Im in NJ, and my dealer is excellent. If you'd like to break the cycle of nightmares with these guys, I'll gladly pass along his info.

Stunning, love everything about it, but one glaring omission especially being in the northeast is the M drive professional. Any reason you didn't tick the box?

It's bittersweet, as I loved that car and there are certain things that this car just cannot replace, but 'onward and upward' as it were. I don't 'mod' cars so aside from maybe an upgrade to the police countermeasures to a full ALP system, the exterior protection stuff and tint is about all I'll do. I'll get a winter wheel/tire package, but I lost the tire lottery so I'll rip through these P-Zeros ASAP.

It was a dumpster fire off the rip with the dealer. New Country BMW in Hartford CT is an embarrassment start to finish. Disorganized, clueless to the whole process, zero communication. From arguing about VIN etch and unitemized "fees" (nitrogen in the tires, lol), to hounding them to get shit in writing, to a general lack of communication, it was a trip, for sure. At no point during the long delays at any stage did they have any info more than Genius, let alone this forum, which should be standard reading for anyone working at a dealer. From patronizing nonsense like "It's just about to get on the boat to make it's way over" (15 days into a 30 day stint in QC), to not knowing anything about the stop sales, it was a comedy of failures.

The car came Saturday and I wanted to stop by and see it, CA says "I'll ask my GSM if it's here"... then couldn't even text me back. The place is the size of my kitchen and you have virtually no inventory...you don't know/can't check if a truck dropped off your customer's car? Found out it was there from another CA randomly through a buddy. I told the CA probably 4-5 times to not remove any of the shipping plastics, and of course they did. The car is a complete mess. Hand prints in dirt on it, etc.

It's actually the second time I ordered an individual car from them...the first deal fell through because they played stupid games with my trade, back in 2017. That was serendipitous, as that's how I ended up with the F-Type. This time I didn't even plan on bothering with the trade...especially after the CA said trade equity had to be applied in full to the new car purchase...which, surprise! He was wrong. I gave them a shot at the appraisal while I already had an offer from another dealer, and all the car buying serivces. I had the MMR report in hand, too. The clown used car manager came up $5k short of another franchised dealer 3 minutes up the road...including the sales tax credit I'd have gotten if I traded. Vroom had a better offer. Whatever. It's a small market BMW dealer in central CT. It's exactly what you'd expect.

Anyway, enough of the rant:

Where you getting your tint and PPF/Ceramic?

Not crazy about the tweaks to the look of the mid-cycle refresh. They also tuned out some of the volume under 3500 RPM…which is like, sort of the whole point. I'd have to order one too and at their normal prices, even 5-10% off MSRP, they're objectively less value than their competition. I got mine for nearly $29k off sticker brand new…lmao. I originally wanted to trade up into a 2020 SVR right before I ordered the G82, but they were impossible to find. It sucks because the dealer was awesome, and the 5/60 b2b warranty and included maintenance is awesome.

The M4 does not look nearly as good, and frankly sounds like shit, but is truly an all-round better car, in basically every measurable way. It's the personal preferences and driving characteristics that I love about the F-Type. And you don't see many either. I'll grab an SVR some day for like $40k and drive it until the wheels fall off, they outright ban ICE, or I'm dead. It is one of the most, if not the most visceral drives this side of an exotic.

I have an aversion to cheap gimmicks…even if they are literally cheap. Maybe dumb if even only for resale, but idgaf. I'm not measuring drifts or using 10 different levels of traction control, ever.

No that's the detailer's shop. The guy who runs it's is a real pro and also happens to be a super nice guy. First rate through and through, as you can see from his shop. I believe he does storage too.

Apex Auto in Portland CT. Owner Jimmy showed up to dealer with a enclosed trailer, even given little notice because of the dealer's shitty communication. Excellent pricing, detailed discussion of his process, and just all-round first class. I've seen his work on other cars and it's first rate. Excited to see it done.

Beauty! FWIW when I lived in CT, I always dealt at BMW of North Haven. They always tested me right.

Is that your garage or the dealership? If its the dealership why is the car dirty. If its your garage, which private equity firm do you work for?

It's the detailers shop. He picked it up from the dealer at delivery. The car was a mess when I picked it up. They were told not to wash it, which they obviously didn't, but were also not supposed to remove any shipping plastics, which they did. I'm over it at this point. I just want the car done and to drive it. I started it and pulled it out of the parking spot for him to load into his trailer. That's the extent of my interaction with the car thus far.

Anyway, enough of the rant:

Wow..that was one hell of a rant, man. What kind of house did you grow up in - because your parents certainly didn't deserve it…first world problems to be sure.

However - a great point you made, one that just amazes me to no end. How do you work in sales in a BMW dealership - or, not sales and BMW in general- and not follow Bimmerpost? Wtf. Seriously. You call yourself a professional? Not a chance.

Enjoy the car.
