Ugly Kar? Seriously? You probably drive a Kia Stinger and are just jealous.
Motor Trend started it, not me. Why aren't you all telling MT, Car & Driver, Road and Track and nearly every online reviewer they're all wrong, because I have yet to see any professional evaluation say it looks good. Just a few people here that Rosie Odonnell is a hot babe. I think I've watched at least 50 reviews now and 99% of them say the grill is horrible.

After seeing the pics I thought it was ugly, then I went to a dealer and I saw 2 cars out the side door. And M3 and an M4. I thought they looked great from the rear, and then walked to the front of them and

It's so sad when it could have been a beautiful car with a decent grill, and it's not just the size. I like most of the Audi grills.

As far as a Stinger, I test drove one and it's a nice car for the $. Very good value proposition, but it still doesn't drive like a BMW. I'll pass, but I would own one anyday over a hideous grill BMW. I can assure you I'm not jealous. I can buy about anything I want, but I don't buy a car just to impress people like you.

If you still want more, the M5 and M8 are available for your specific needs. If you want the additional creature comforts, you can't yourself be cheap about paying for it.
I'm not cheap but rather BMW is. Let me get the better interior as an option like Porsche does. I feel spoiled for choice by them.
Porsche option list prices are insanely high!

He still called it ugly. I get the opposite response from everyone that see's it. These writers are sheep repeating what the other one says.

To each their own, I can understand that. Lot of people like it though and a lot of people are buying these. I don't like a lot of cars, I find x4 and x6 hideous and unnatural, I think Mercedes version is the GLE, it's like cars with identity crisis but that doesn't mean I have to go on the forum on the specific model section and leave strong negative comments when I know there are a lot of owners on the same page who genuinely love and enjoy the car. In the end looks are subjective. Happy holidays

I have seen reviewers say it looks good…I also think reviewers are very much on the big/flashy grille bad train because their favorite car that will never be topped from the 1980s had a small grille 😂. The Lexus spindle grille got eviscerated by critics and I see tons of them around town

Who cares about someones (reviewer or forum troll) subjective opinion about whether it looks ugly? Why are we still discussing this 2 years later? This thread was not about looks so why is this discussion even relevant?

Move on. If you think it's ugly don't buy.

For a 5 seater, all weather daily, add snow tires for the worst winter can throw at you with a Simple tune for 1K would put the most super cars to shame. Add an exhaust and your ears will be set. As regards to the looks In person with a Sapphire black and red accents, tint and full red leather interior it's a GOOD looking car. You got heads up and Apple car play and remote app start for those cold or Hot days. You can haul kids and drop the rear seats to haul big stuff. Honestly any car that outperform this car will only be appreciated on closed race track by experienced race god drivers. Let alone mere mortals on public roads.

Personally, I don't like so much american cars. In my opinion they lack refinement. But I'm never going to waste my time on Dodge or Chevy forums telling the owners of these cars that their cars are ugly. That doesn't interest me and I have better things to do. On the other hand I remember when I was younger. I had several Japanese cars (WRX STI, Acura RSX, Mazdaspeed) and when the manufacturers unveiled the new versions which were more cool and powerfull than mine I was a little jealous and I always found defects at new models to try to convince me that mine was still interesting. I believe that's exactly what happens with those who come here just to say that the G80 / G82 Xdrive are fast but so ugly or that the RWD version is the only one really fun to drive.

100%. Far too many auto "journalists" act like hipsters repeating what they thought was the cool way of characterizing the grill. It's tired.

Not trying to start drama! Plus people hate GTR's. But why are people soooo surprised by this time? Pretty much same weight and same power as the Nissans which have been hitting those times for years?

I brought it up because the review said how ugly it is. I own one and get stopped all the time by people who love it. Who really cares what any car magazine says. I buy what I like. I don't need people telling me what to think.

i'm very aware of the bmw individual program but it still pales in comparison with what porsche allows you to do. but going a step further the buttons and other interior trim are shared too much with the pedestrian 3/5/x series. there's a significant step up in quality and feel going to the x7/7/8 series which I'd prefer

the fact that the G80 xdrive can easily fit my whole family, with car seats, our luggage, a golf travel bag and i can drive this to work in the snow, and as an added bonus goes 0-60 sub 3 secs in stock form?

insane.

also looks amazingly menacing in BSM with tartufo interior.

people not liking the grille online really doesn't faze me. I'm loving it.

do i wish that this random person online trashing it loved the grille? no.

i park my car backed in into parking spaces, just so as i walk easy i can glance back and look at the badass front end.

I think this is what professional drag strips use, but it isn't always clear when someone else tests 0-60.

It is a rollout, the car has to move to start the clock. 2 ft rollout is not the same as 5-60

This will be the fun vehicle in the household and i prefer having raw M feel. AWD might have better launches numbers and also have better resale in the long term. But i am going to keep this vehicle for a while and prefer getting a RWD performance sedan before things takes the hybrid or electric route.
This was my thinking as well. After tracking two of my previous M3's however, I wanted to change things up with a rear biased performance focused AWD. It doesn't hurt to experience new things. I've been sideways lighting up the rears plenty of times, which you can still do in the X-Drive btw. After all the reviews praising the X-Drive on the track, I was sold on the experience. Besides 150lb weight difference and lack of MT, I didn't see any other downsides.
