I ordered my i4 M50 in Tanzanite.
That is one of the best blues BMW ever made.
SMB is close but Tanzanite is my color.

I owned an Interlagos E90 for seven years, and I think I like Portimao better. In my opinion its a little more iridescent and really pops in direct sunlight. These shots were taken in overcast or rainy conditions.

This dichotomy and dynamic range is exactly why I chose TBII for mine. Absolutely love it.

I must give a shout out for Mediterranean Blue (which seems no longer available)…

It's what I have on my current G30 5 series (with Cognac interior). Has a nice purple-ish hue in some angles in bright sunlight and can look a bit "chrome-like" in other settings.

Having said that, have ordered Tanzanite Blue for my forthcoming X3. I love Carbon Black also. Just preferred the TB for the murkier UK weather…

There's a bunch missing, not sure when they removed it. You can use the individualizer to see what's available, but still have to ask if it is available for a particular model (except the X vehicles as those are pre-approved)

I have to say - I think San Marino is my favorite, too. I'm just too cheap to pay that much extra for it! I agree that BMW makes the best blues on the market! I've owned cars in Orient, Interlagos, Imperial, Estoril, Seaside, and now Portimao. I love them all!

I’m biased of course but SMB is the best honestly anyone considering any of the blues should go and look at all of them in person. Pictures don’t do any of them justice - they’re all very nice

OP here - I agree with this 100%. You need to see them in person to decide. Tanzanite comes in 3rd to me in these pictures, but I preferred it in person. They are all lovely though, no question.

I have had many blues in the past, including in my current 911 (Dark Blue Metallic, kind of between San Marino and Tanzanite). I remember trying to decide between LeMans and Interlagos on my E90 M3. Same issue 10 years on! Then I went with the lighter shade (LeMans), but I think I am going with Tanzanite this time.

I took a shot of a Marina Bay Blue X3M that same day on the showroom floor. It looked really nice too - close to San Marino.
