I think dubbing a manual as a real car and an automatic as not a real car is a personal preference. But there are plenty of great driver's car that are not built without a third pedal. Respectfully coming from someone who ordered a manual G80.

Let me guess: you must feel special because you can drive a manual transmission?

I agree. My comment was not facetious, neither was it intended to denigrate anyone who chooses to get the automatic. Poorly worded, I hope we can all let it go at that.

The difference between base and comp S58 is just the max boost. Since for tuning you anyway set your own target boost value, it's irrelevant whether you start with base or comp.

This has to be meant to be a little facetious. A PDK GT3 or a 458 Speciale is not a real car?

That's an incredibly juvenile opinion and you don't need to be quite so proud of yourself for learning to drive stick.

Congrats guys. I was leaning towards the Brooklyn grey but after seeing the Dravit grey metallic in the sun its jumped into the lead. It has a greening/goldish flake when the sun hits it. Best shop around. Never a worry when my car is in your hands. Excited to see what you have instore for the G80 and hopefully i'll have one soon and itll be over there for some mods as they come out.

It's the high school snobby car kid take on transmissions. I know cause I used to think the same way. The individualist part of me that needed to feel special liked that they were rarer, it allowed me to look down on people with nicer/faster cars, etc. I think I carried it with me until maybe late 20s when I finally changed my tune. My last M was a DCT and I really enjoyed it. Didn't feel like there was any less control than a manual to me.

I am driving both and come from a manual only culture where a driver’s licence is mandatory to be obtained on a manual transmission.
Yet, your post is not true as the power is not controlled by the driver different that different than an automatic. If you reffer to the clutch pedal when you release some of the power, that while can be interpreted like that, you are actually punishing the clutch disk which will suffer in a certain way or worn out sooner than normal.
Power control comes actually from the acceleration pedal in both cases. The way you connect the power doesn’t really matter except in vary rare cases like snow or mud, or whatever when a slow release might help a little.
Otherwise, both cars can be controlled very well.
In top of that a ZF transmission can be driven manual as well if you wish so.

I'm taking the time to write this apology, because I don't want to be "that guy" or an "online troll". You are correct, my opinion was poorly expressed and juvenile and I did not intend to denigrate anyone with my comment. Sincerely, JWG80M3.

Thank you for realizing this. It's incredibly insulting to anyone who drives, but can't drive stick due to a physical limitation.

This is, without question, one of the dumbest posts on this topic I have ever read. You don't control the engine with a clutch.
