Good point, I was being a little facetious. It's hard to read constant negative comments in threads that are not dealing with aesthetics

Shame they can't hide it in the badge like some of the VAG cars.

It is nice to see that they expect people to track it though
I suspect that is it not only the transmission oil cooler that is hampered by the ACC. The G8X is likely configured the same way as the F8X where multiple radiators are stacked one in front of the other: transmission/AC/intercooler coolant/engine coolant. The engineer does give a good hint: if you plan to track a lot, avoid optioning the ACC.

Different threads for each, but with a link to all of them in the OP of each, as was done for the F8X would be great

Cooling System. G80 M3 and G82 M4 - explained, Episode 02

Other than the addition of brake ducts and the stone guard, which are very welcome changes, it does not seem like much was changed from the basic F8x cooling system design. I guess if ain't broke, don't fix it since the F8x cooling design has performed very well...

It would be nice to see more about the intake cooling side though. Like a closer look at the charge cooler, etc. Or if the G8x will be easily upgradable for factory water injection, like the F82 GTS.

Is it just me or does the ACC unit look removable? That would be pretty sweet if you were to simply remove it before track use.
I would imagine there needs to be a recalibration if that is the case but that would be great.

Maybe they are trying to make it extra hard for people to replace them?

No, they are making sure it doesn’t fall off like in Tesla Model 3

Once the bumper is off, you can really see there is absolutely no reason to have such tall one piece kidneys.

The bumper bar will always separate it into two areas top and bottom.

Except for the aesthetics.

We will have something in the works for that as we did for the F8X M3/M4 and F90 M5.

Yes this has been known since mid last year when a standalone picture of the bumper was leaked. When it's not attached to the vehicle, it's very easy to see the crossbar dividing the upper and lower half.

Although these are interesting points, let's try to keep this thread focused on technical aspects of the cooling system itself. Suffice it to say that the presence of the crossbar presents favorable conditions for the aftermarket to come up with alternate designs, which we already know is happening. If you desire a different look, they will have you covered.

I like the new stone mesh guard on the front, seems like some people on the F8X had gravel / rocks puncture and cause leaks. The little lip on the bottom to improve negative pressure is a nice subtle upgrade as well, and brake ducts for the win.

I wonder if the charge cooler has went through upgrades to make it more reliable.

Does this apply to the F87 as well? What is the current solution for F8X?

Yes we offer an oil cooler guard for the M2 Competition as well. Please PM us as we do not want to go off-topic in this thread.

Yeah those exposed oil coolers are pretty scary especially for the lowered cars...the g8x is starting to grow on me tbh.

They should put some kind of stone guard on the oil cooler at the bottom. I had a friend destroy his engine from a rock hitting the oil cooler.

This was covered already in this thread. That myth was dispelled months ago.

Also covered already. The aftermarket will address this as they have for other BMW M models.

Agreed. Don't even need to see the bumper cover removed to know there is the horizontal brace present dividing up the top and bottom.

The charge cooler arrangement on the S58 is very different than on the S55. It is now placed vertically alongside the engine on the intake side. Let's indeed hope they took the opportunity to make it more robust. I lost my car for 6 weeks this summer because of leaky intercooler
