Individual Twilight Purple - opinion, value?

I'm expecting to pull the trigger on a G80 M3 AWD in the near future and I've been struggling with color choice. I really wanted a nice blue but Portimao and Tanzanite are not doing it for me. Currently considering Brooklyn Grey but it might be a boring color when I see it in person. Isle of Man Green and Toronto Red are still options. I'm starting to think about individual colors, specially Twilight Purple after seeing it on the F90 M5!

Considering this will be a $5k choice if approved for a summer build, what do you think? I'm trying to justify going individual by thinking it'll add a couple grand to the resale value 5 or so years down the road. It's not like I'm throwing $5k away...

The BMW Individualizer does a poor job of showing the color so here are some F90 M5 photos.

Thoughts?

I really want a Daytona Violet G80 but can't justify the extra $5k for individual. Just look at the F80 individual market to make a judgement. You have people like Brooklyn Auto Sales selling individual F80's for a more than $5k premium over a regular color. I would say if you can swing it, go for it.

There should be a purple one showing up soon. A now deleted video of several G80s, including a purple one, was on Instagram, the post is deleted and I can't find it anywhere now though.

Yes I remember seeing that video. It was posted by a BMW employee who also shot another video of himself driving a G80 M3. That purple M3 stood out and looked great

Daytona Violet is beautiful in the sun but it appears to have similar characteristics to Tanzanite Blue which makes it too dark in overcast conditions or at night.

I never considered individual colors in the past but I've been convincing myself lately that it's something I need to think about before ordering.

Twilight Purple is a great color, as well as purple silk metallic. I really wonder how Techno Violet would look on a modern car though. All these purples, tbh I would want to look at them in person before ordering.

If you can afford it I'd say do it, that colour with silver wheels & the silverstone interior with Carbon buckets would be a gorgeous combo. The exclusivity alone must be worth it if you can swing it.

I looked at purple silk and velvet blue as well (techno violet is not in the individualizer). Like you I'm worried it's hard to decide without looking at them in person and under different conditions! I am not leasing so I need to live with the car for 5+ years

what we have found is wild colors such as purple will be tough to sell, it will take a certain buyer who really wants that. Most dealers also will prob ask for a deposit of some sort when ordering a wild color like that bc they dont want to be stuck with it if you back out.

I personally think the purple is super cool color on the Ms but not sure If I personally could drive that everyday.

I've seen a few in the NYC area on various models. It is pretty dark and not very noteworthy at night. I'm all for individual colors, but I lease and never worry about selling my car at the end.

You're pretty much correct. I've got Techno Violet on my E36 M3 and it's pretty dark, which can be a good/bad thing depending on what you like.

Personally, I love Twilight Purple, and they'll really suit the car. However, I hope you're OK with a really loud color all the time.

I will still consider individual colors (including loud ones ) if I decide to lease. If I buy the G80, which is the most likely scenario, it'll be either Brooklyn Grey, Portimao Blue, Toronto Red or Isle of Man Green!

I'm all over the place, I know
