In my X4M (S58 engine too) there is a ton of lag from a stop unless i brake boost/launch control. Is this the same for your car?

Congrats.

I still struggle to see the M3 as a nearly 4000 lb car. It's basically no longer an M3 due to its sheer size and weight. More of a successor to former M5s.

That's my question as well. I had the F80 and found no lag taking off hard from a stop. I now have the X3m Comp and there is lag taking off hard from a stop. Only lag I notice is from a stop. No such situation in my previous F10 M5s either.

Interested in this answer as well.
So when I took my X3M In for its 1 year service I mentioned the lag and they said they would look into it. They did a computer update (part was for the recall which I can't remember what it was for) they didn't mention the lag when finished and I forgot to ask BUT the car has been much more responsive since that service and the lag is only very minor now. So I think they do have a software update that can help.

I am sure they ironed it out for M3/M4 using X3M as real world tester for engine...

I'd love to know how that freaky front ever managed to get out of the lab. And once out, why they didn't hunt it down and kill it. Never never should a grill become a major design issue. Was the focus group a bunch of brachiating meth-fueled chimps?

High thigh bolstered seats are the enemy of women wearing short skirts, or pencil skirts/dresses. Just saying.

I think they designed the 'grille' for the i4 and just adapted a similar look for the 4 series/M3. I actually kind of like the G80/G82 but I find the G22 front end pretty hideous lol

He didn't buy it. He was selected to drive it. Probably a press car?

50% of the G80/82 owners will anyway flash their cars with bootmod3 or similar, so lag won’t be an issue

Really looking forward to driving impressions when you can really open it up. Any plans to test on a track?

When you say it "sounds better" than the F80, are you comparing it to a 2015 F80 M3 or a newer F80 M3 w/Comp package?

My 2018 M3 Comp definitely sounds better than my 2015 did. And all the videos of the G80 I've heard so far sound similar to my F80 w/Comp.

You also mentioned that the DCT was better. Can you provide more details?

Let's face it, the next M2 is the real thing. 90kg heavier, silly looks...
I just don't understand where is bmw design team is going with some of it's latest designs
And why M davison allow such a peak in the car weight.

Sigh, half the thread is now diluted about what other people than the OP think about the grill and weight etc. This is a unique and valuable opportunity to get a private persons real world observations of this car, so try to contain yourselves please...

To the OP, thanks for doing this in what seems to be an open and honest way.

Was thinking the same and i remember someone pointed out that for racing G82 M4 will replace current M6 and G87 M2 replace M4 for the GT cars ... So if you look at it that way then it kind of make sense. And if that logic is confirmed it means that current F87 M2 will not really have a successor and will probably rocket in value... Let's see how that goes...

I don't get it, the s58 is still twin turbo setup. How is it sounds way better than s55? I have had listen to the new x3m cold start and honestly cannot tell the difference.
Secondly l, does any one know how much heavier is the s58?
