The guy does have a point though. There comes a point where y'all just need to move on. It's truly annoying to enter each thread and find countless posts with the same old talking points as if to imply they're just now noticing what the car looks like. I don't like the G22 and had expressed my displeasure when it was debuted. Now when i see any thread regarding that car I simply retain from clicking. There's nothing to be gain by continuous negativity, this is the same attitude that is frowned upon in the workplace.

I get it and agree that BMW made some errors in the execution of these cars but it's what it is. No amount of continuous thread jacking to voice displeasure will change that. Also, it's ok to not like the car but it's completely uncalled for to denigrate those who like it. Taste are subjective, every M3 has had some former owners alienating the new model for various reasons. At the end of the day, buy what you like and as said I do get the disappointment some of you feel regarding this car's styling, almost feels like a break-up. However, y'all know that in the end we must all move on even from a break-up for ones own well-being and sanity.

No, I also share your concern. Another aspect which could be a real turndown is the boost threshold underneath 2800rpm. This issue remains largely undiscussed, but for a daily driver I can imagine it's frustrating.

Both issues could be an indication that they have seriously cut the investment budget for these kind of cars already a while back. Therefore, really anxious to read first extended tests. It might be less stellar than many of us hope!

Absolutely nothing wrong with criticism, it’s what this place is for. The labeling and name calling gets old though, and I suspect that’s what the bans are about. There certainly isn’t any shortage of critical posts.

She’s a bit of a porker no doubt, iirc the M40i’s are nearing 4K lbs as well. Only so much M can do I guess.

Hmm... I saw the M3 in person and actually liked it but the more I see it alongside the regular 4 series, the 4 series front is starting to look better. Or maybe I was fooling myself into liking it ha ha.

Geez, I don't know. I may look into the M5 or M8. Let's see how I feel in a year or two.

An Enthusiast is one who is enthusiastic about something and attempts to share that enthusiasm with others! Some by joining and participating in specialized forums of like minded individuals.

A Troll on the other hand, is one who continually engages in forum threads in an effort to interfere with the enjoyment of enthusiasts by constantly spamming their distaste and hatred for the same something.

Which one do you want to be known as, as you post in these threads?

Why don't you go look at a review of the F80 by Chris Harris... a proper driver, not some so-called YouTube journalist who thinks he can drive. Harris was not 'lukewarm', he was positively brimming with enthusiasm.
I still remember the lukewarm reception of the F8x: it is a car that works against the driver, being overly snappy while numb and on the verge, feels like you had to fight it to stay alive! This issue was tackled rather fast, I don't know the adaptations they've done, but a 2015 is likely to have this, a 2016 is probably ok. What was appreciated from the start was the hammer of an engine and the improved DCT.

Misery loves company; I'm guessing they want others to be miserable with them. Won't stop my excitement for this car. Finally in a position to buy what was literally a dream only a few years ago and I love what BMW has done with the design, my biggest issue is having to wait, but it's gonna be worth it!

Not true at all. In the hands of a moderately capable driver, the F80 from 2015 and 2016 are telepathic in their communication of impending oversteer. Very easily controlled when in a drift or slide, and so communicative as to where that transition is. It is universally loved by track drivers.... on top of that, it has a longer wheelbase than the M2, so if anything, it is less 'snappy' than an M2.

I think I'd probably put money on a CPO m5 over this. They're both heavy not at least the M5 justifies it with luxury, space, and a V8.

Sure, just like E46 and E92 or, for that matter, E30. Seriously though, E46 still looks best to me and I still think E92 looks great. I did not love F80 design at first - thought front bumper was busy and didn't like straight line separating front hood/front bumper - but I now think design is very good. New designs are, by definition, new, but not all stand the test of time. Will be interesting to see how perspective on G80 evolves over next several years and what tweaks BMW makes to LCI.

Yes it has grown in size and weight and looks are subjective but I wouldn't write it off just yet or at least until I've tested it myself. In saying that personally if I was looking to buy an M car I would choose M2 any day over the F80/82 or G8x, however, I can see many enthusiasts going for the G8x due to its unique design, and its performance capability
This design may bring new customers to the brand and, though I personally do not like the size and weight increase, it must be compared to contemporary competitors versus prior Ms. Moreover, for those like me who want something smaller/lighter the current M2comp is fantastic and the fact that a G87 with manual transmission is coming tells me BMW is still catering to its old customers as well as new ones.

Yeah agreed. Pity BMW won't offer the G87 with 4 doors as that would have been ideal

I've seen it. It's not amazing or what I'd hoped for, but I've come to accept it and will get it as there isn't really anything else in the segment. I did think that it looked kind of bloated and the side view is more analogous to a Dodge Charger than a svelte BMW. It's an every day car for it and won't ever see the track. I'm assuming I won't have any complaints about the driving.

I really like the blue color car in the OP but what's up with the grille pattern on that one? The horizontal bars are more acceptable IMO. Hopefully there s a way to select the desired pattern when building the car.

Excellent point, I have the snappy 15 and wouldn't think of tracking it. Good on BMW for fixing that in the 16. Hopefully they realize their mistake with this one and redo the front bumper and grill for the 22. The sad thing is BMW didn't used to have a problem getting the car "right" before sending it to market in the past.

The blue one is a M440i. The yellow M4 and green M3.

My experience is a bit different, they keep evolving their cars continuously and not only the M's. I had two E90s and two F10s with 3 years between the 1st and the 2nd. The 2nd felt in both cases as a totally different, clearly much better composed and much more collected car! For the E90 this was like night and day different, for the F10 it was also noticable, but a bit less disruptive.

In the press many journalist state that the F80 improvement came packed in the competition package, but I doubt that. I drove a none competition in 2017 and it felt as good as the competition I drove a few months later.
