No.

The MSRP on my 2015 non-comp F82 was $83,000, it had everything except the electric sun shade in the back and carbon ceramic breaks. This one is equipped similarly: all the packages with no carbon seats or carbon ceramic breaks, and it’s competition model, and it’s $81,500.

Same here, metallic paint + full leather + carbon interior trim + exec + parking assistance is loaded well beyond what was available for the F8x (sans the carbon ceramic brakes and individual choices), at a cheaper cost, so much more value over the previous generation.

I appreciate that the other options (carbon exterior trim, carbon buckets, etc.) exist, and might tick some extra boxes if I go this route, but I'm definitely not going to whine that if I load it up with 20k worth of the good stuff, that it's close to the cost of a stripper 911. You likely won't be able to find a stripper 992 911 in the wild for a while anyway, and take just take a look at a true similar comparison loading up a 992 with fancy bits.

That’s a good point, BMW has packaged this more cleverly for milking profit and added some must haves (CF buckets) over the F8X.

If I build it as close to my F80 as possible the gap is just below $10k instead of $20k. Factor in no Euro delivery and the gap grows again though. It’s almost 7 years later so all in all it’s not that bad.

People above are pricing this up to 90K. With RWD, thats not even with AWD. I'll take a Used 911s over this any day. Not close

Not to mention the base model runs the same 0-60 as the M340i...

The price is right, even a complaining penny pincher like me is pleasantly surprised. You're getting more performance and more tech for basically the same price as the outgoing model.

I agree. Relative to other manufactures we get a lot for our money with it. I'm surprised they don't charge extra for the red calipers. They could have easily made that a $250 option and people would have gone for it.

Agreed. My F80 build was essentially the same price as my G80 build (~$80k); and now it has the Active Cruise Control option that prevented me from buying the F80. The shame for BMW is that's the edge of my budget and I'm "just not that into" the exterior enough.

For sure I was surprised to see that! The carbon seats for only $4k is a crazy good deal too, when I first saw those I thought the minimum would be $8k. All of the options for these cars seem very reasonable and fair, at least to me.

No, but you can get a sweet deal on 4 ceramic brakes for 8k.

If you're looking at leasing a G8x within the next 6 months or so, you're looking at little to no discounts and a low residual (I was quoted just $500 off MSRP + the $500 loyalty, and the current low mileage residual for an M4C is 54%), hence the $1200+ payment. The same was true with the F80 launch.

A lot of current M3 lessees are coming due with their cars since EOP was 2018, so we either have to pay to play with the new launch, or switch to something else to hold us over. I'm toying with the idea of hopping from an M3 to an M5 since the payments would be the same.

Same, however I'm having the itch to get another M3 one last time before going with an M5

Current plan: Keeping my F80 for another 18 months, hopefully get into a G80 and keep that for 2 years. Then move onto an M5 in '23/'24 when my wife and I plan on having our first kid

Yeah, sort of why I'm just toying with the idea of going to an M5. I'm worried I'm going to be disappointed with it's size, but the M3 is getting a bit big anyway, and I don't want to daily an M2C (though my dealer has an M2CS coming in on the down low that nobody has a claim to, so that's a bit tempting). I rarely have the kids in the F80 now, if so, just our 8 y/o on the way to/from school, so I don't really have a concern there other than leaning toward 4 doors to make those drop-offs easier.

And that cayman will have a 4 cylinder engine. To get a new Porsche with a 6 cylinder you are starting at 86k. I love the Porsche brand, but their prices are lunacy, and their cars are impractical.

Thats the direction I may go also and I bought a M340i home again and my wife had the frown on her face and said are you sure you want this car after sitting in back seat. Also the lease numbers look better for the M5 currently although May is my target date and its AWD so I don't have to wait until end of 21.

At some point in time you probably could've bought Google or Amazon for $100k!

I think it's already been confirmed that the G80 is as much (if not better) value than an F80, when comparing apples to apples. I'm talking MSRP as it's not fair to consider the F80 discounts later in its life cycle. The only disappointment for me is that M division didn't invest a little more in weight savings. I would've accepted a $2k premium for maintaining overall weight at F80 levels.

Google and Amazon wasn't for sale back then and it's virtual... I'm talking about cars same wheels same metal same plastic...And I'm not complaining about BMW I'm complaining about all brands over inflating their prices... A billionaire once said I don't care how much it costs just as long as there is value in it
