Crazy. Everywhere you look, the automotive landscape is changing in front of our very own eyes, such as M3/4 launching in some markets with no 6MT. At this rate, the only mfg's that still build what I look for are BMW, Porsche and Mazda with the Miata.

I really thought we had more time

What do you expect from a car that starts at $27k? Can you name another car in this price range that gets fixed calipers?

Miata and WRX both offer four pot Brembos as part of an option package for roughly $32k. CTR for $35k. Didn't the old GT86 offer Brembos as an option?

BRZ did have a Performance Package with Brembos. It will be interesting to see if they offer that again.

Plenty of people tracked the non-brembo brakes though. Pads and fluid was enough for most people.

Oh, absolutely agreed. More ND owners have had track issues with the Brembos than the standard brakes. My M Coupe with two piston floaters was wildly better sorted than the crap six pistons on our 135i.

Pads, fluid and proper cooling work just as well or better than just throwing larger or more complex calipers at the issue. But fixed calipers sure look better and appeal to buyers.

Just saw this. Maybe only the 86 will come to the Europe.

Subaru BRZ confirmed for Australia in 2021!

International reports that the incoming Subaru BRZ will be a vehicle for "America only" have been panned by the brand in Australia, with local representatives telling CarsGuide "we will get the next-generation BRZ".

In news that will cause a collective sigh of relief to whistle across this country, the next-gen BRZ is a lock for a local launch, with CarsGuide understanding we will see it in our market around the third quarter of 2021.

Well, the F90 M5 has 1-piston sliding caliper in the rear even if you opt for the CCBs, so I won't hold it against them.

Official reveal is tomorrow. Looking forward to ACTUAL information and pics.

If it's really the FA24 with 217 hp and 177 tq (which the 22 lb ft of tq will help the midrange dip of the FA20 which was annoying on the street) I'm going to be a big disappointed.

Because it's also likely going to gain weight negating the very slight power bump.

It's going to be a tough decision next year to decide what to add to the stable.

True, the Mustang did as well for a long time. But they didn't need large rear brakes due to the F/R weight distribution, and made up for it with 4 or 6 piston fronts. 2 Piston fronts is just weak, given the car is likely to gain weight.

In the picture above the entire car has 6 pistons. Most others have 10+. M2C has 6 in one caliper.

sucks they are keeping the same crappy brakes. My FRS pedal would go spongey after 10-15 minutes on a backroad. my f30 335 held up better than that.

Stock fluid and pads?

Dragging out your braking zones actually puts more heat in to the brakes, well, it gives the brakes less time to dissipate the heat so the end up heat soaking and fading.

Also, if you're fading the brakes on the street, take it to the track.

Even with the first-gen, I thought the Scion/Toyota had the better front end. But you had to wait for one of the "special editions" to get the same interior as a BRZ.
