I'd trade in my current generation M4 for this.

Size wise I don't want to go as big as an E class or 5 series. This would be perfect.

Oh and manual too please! #BMWNA

This an our i3S - not much more needed. Oh, another rant, too bad the i3 is going away...

Video: First live look at the M3 Touring Prototype! [Updated With Spy Pics]

Update on G81 M3 Touring:
  • For the readers outside North America: G81 will start production in November 2022 and have a full run up to the end of production of G21.
  • There will be a single model: Competition xDrive.
  • As expected, it will be in LCI configuration (for instance, the new i4 widescreen dash will be standard).
  • As far as I can see, everything that you can have on a G80, will be available on G81.

Can you clarify/expand on the bold? Based on the i4 concept, that would be a dramatic interior change for the Gx.

Yes, and it's coming for all G2x/G8x models, at LCI in July 2022 for the sedan and touring, and in March 2023 for the coupe and convertible. Right now it appears to be optional on G20 and G21, and standard on all others.

Any chance it could be optional on the G87?

While the i4 concept is radical I have no doubt the implementation in series cars will be much more toned down, looking at the 2 series spy shots all it really comes down to is a larger screen over the center stack and instead of the current overlap effect the two screens are connected by a trim piece to appear seamless.

Are you able to post those pics of the 2 series showing the new screen design? The only G42 interior pics i have seen show the same design as the G20.

Production i4 spy shot.....

I assume the 2 series pics are hiding this or it will be even less radical and just bigger screens

The 2 series pics i posted are not hiding the new screen layout. They show the same screen layout as the G20 and the G42 will debut in 08/21 with what is shown in the pics i posted. Then according to the info posted by ynguldyn the screen layout will be changed to the same design as the i4 in 08/22.So the current screen layout that is shown in the pics i posted will only be in the G42 for the first year of production.

From his info it seems the "i4 version" will be an optional upgrade as well.

Whatever those particular spy shots are of (and I agree they do look to be something closer to the current live cockpit pro) the fact that they would offer both screen setups simultaneously or changeover after just a year is proof that the "i4 version" will not be a radical remake of the interior. It will essentially only be bigger screens connected by some trim

He only said that they will be optional on the G20 and G21.Hopefully they will end up also being only an option and not standard on the G42 and G87.
