In my case the dealer never asked me for potential dates. We filled out the form requesting PCD together and on the form there was a field requesting date preferences. Whether that means anything or not I guess we'll see.
I’m sure they would have scheduled me for a later date if I couldn’t make the 18th. But the conversation didn’t go there.

I am unable to send you a PM. I installed their cross country package, full rockers, a pillar, partial roof, door sills and everything came around $3.7k.

Did you discuss how long it would take them to complete the work?
Are you driving it roughly 500-700 miles (to Michigan?)? I am considering driving it ~700 miles as well and thinking through logistics.

This is the maximum work they could do in a day and half.

I took delivery in May and drove it back to Michigan (750 miles) in a single stretch. It was a blast in back roads. If you are installing ppf, it might be a perfect way to clock those break in miles.

Seems like PCD delivery is getting very popular . I received a tentative date from PCD for Jan 11 band they mentioned not to book any tickets 3 weeks prior to the actual date. So my car is currently awaiting carrier assignment and is at VPC as of 11/11. I got email from PCD of 11/7. Has anyone waited more than a month to do PCD after the car cleared VPC and do you get another email from PCD confirming the date 2-3 weeks prior?

Are you at the Brunswick port? If so, they should be able to get you in before they shut down on December 20th.

Online tracker update sequence:
At port (Germany)
In transit (Ship)
At port (Charleston, US)
In transit (Train)
At port (Greenville - Vehicle Processing Center)
At dealership (Performance Center)

My timeline:
04/29/22 - At port, Charleston
05/02/22 - In transit
05/05/22 - At VPC, Greenville
05/05/22 - VPC work order closed
05/06/22 - PC confirms delivery date
05/18/22 - At dealership
05/31/22 - Delivery date (initial date 6/1)

Scheduling:
- PC team will reach out to your CA after the work order is closed by Greenville VPC. PC team will not provide any tentative dates before that.
- PC team is only offering 1 delivery date (instead of 3 options in the past) and you need to respond within 3 days. If the proposed date doesn't work, your CA can request a different date which might be a week or two later.
- Please do not make any travel arrangements until two-weeks prior to your delivery date. Due to production schedules, weather, or other unforeseeable circumstances, your delivery date may need to be changed prior to that three-week window. In the unlikely event we are notified of a delay for your vehicle, we will contact you immediately to arrange a new date (from PC confirmation email).

Cancellation:
If you need to cancel your Performance Center Delivery, notify the BMW Center from whom you ordered the vehicle immediately. They are required to submit a cancellation form for your vehicle. Please note the following two circumstances and the resulting outcome:
- If the vehicle has already been shipped to the BMW Performance Center, you are responsible for any shipping charges that apply to transport the vehicle back to your selling BMW Center. Vehicles are delivered to our facility approximately 2 weeks prior to your delivery date.
- If the vehicle has not been shipped to the BMW Performance Center, upon receipt of the Cancellation Form the vehicle will be re-routed for transport to your selling BMW Center at no additional cost.

Paperwork:
- My dealer completed paperwork 10 days before my PCD date.
- Once your date is confirmed, you have to complete and return your travel form no earlier than two-weeks prior to your delivery.

Special request:
- You can communicate special requests directly to your PC team or through your CA once your delivery date is confirmed.
- This was their feedback when i requested them to leave some protection films on the vehicle: We will do our best to accommodate some of these requests. However, some of the coverings must be removed to properly inspect the vehicle and clean some areas. We will request with the shop and detail team to leave any coverings on that aren’t required to be removed during detail and Pre Delivery Inspection.

Delivery day:
- The delivery program is designed for you and one guest; additional guests cannot be accommodated, No exceptions.
- Delivery day will start at 8 am and conclude around 3 pm.
- The BMW Performance Center does not assist with shipping arrangements and customers who choose to ship a vehicle after delivery, must be available at the time of shipment to hand the vehicle over to the carrier.
- Participants must present a valid driver’s license (participants 15 to 17 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian).
- Child care services are not available. If your guest is a child under the age of 12, you will be required to accompany them in our café and will not be able to participate in the BMW factory tour or any of the driving activities.
- No pets are allowed at the BMW Performance Center or the Marriott hotel.

PPF installation:
I didn't want to drive back to MI without PPF and i reached out to Extreme Colors Auto Spa based on the recommendation from the forum.
- They are the the official BMW Performance Center paint protector since 2013.
- Their price was inline with the current market and they were extremely professional, knowledgeable and quick to respond.
- I started working with them right after my vehicle went with production. Initially, I had booked a tentative date and they were able to reschedule it as soon as i got my PCD confirmation.
- I chose following PPF options (full front, roof, rocker and few other things). I am planning to drop off the vehicle by a Tuesday evening and pick it by Thursday morning.
Hello - do you know if it’s possible to end the day early ? Like around 1:00 pm? And skip some things? Want to experience the track and off road and maybe sometime getting to know the vehicle from

Yes, thats possible. After confirming your PCD date, you can request PCD team to have your experience (track and factory tour) scheduled in the morning and have your Genius session after lunch. This way, you can leave any time.

Not sure if this was ever covered, but how do license plates work? Do I bring my current license plate with me and they put it on at PCD?

My CA said that they will give a temporary one when you do the paperwork and you take that to the performance center and put it on there.

Do you know if I have the option to just transfer my current plates and I just take those with me instead of a temp one?

I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to do that. I don’t have any to transfer though so I didn’t even ask about it.

I doubt that would be possible unless you’re able to get the necessary paperwork in hand to register the car in your home state. I doubt that PCD would have the ability to do anything but issue you a temporary tag. They are in essentially the same position as an out-of-state dealer.

But once you return home you can go to your DMV to do the pipe swap/registration.

But isn't all the paperwork filled out and submitted at your dealer prior to PCD?

Your dealer would provide you a temporary plate or transfer your existing plate while doing paperwork in advance. PCD will do nothing other than installing the plate you have.

Good point. Check with your dealer. If it is in the state where you reside I would think that they could do the plate transfer even though they are not is possession of the car.

I am not sure about the state safety inspection though. In NYS, even a new car needs one, and the car has to be in the shop to get inspected.

What does your dealer say about the plates though? Let us know. I'm doing PCD delivery if I ever get an allocation so this is of interest to me.

I'll reach out to my CA next week. But from vj123 response it seems like it's the same basic process as if you were purchasing the car from the dealer. My dealer happens to be 15 min away from me so I'm thinking they should just be able to transfer the plate to the new car and I'll just take the plates with me to PCD.

Of course that probably also means I'll be trading my current car in prior to PCD.

MI does not require inspection on vehicles. Not sure if the process is any different in a state which requires one for new vehicle purchases.

Your CA does all the paperwork and send you the temp tags in mail before u pick up the car. It might be a bit complicated to transfer ur existing plates coz that would mean u r selling ur current car and buying the car (at PCD) the day the dealer sends u the paperwork. Might be worth it to talk with ur CA about it. U might be without ur current car for a couple of weeks if u do end up doing that.

It is surprising that u got a PCD date that far. I would talk to ur CA and see if they can contact PCD and see if u can get an earlier date. My car arrived at VPC 11/11, work order completed on 11/17 and got a PCD date 12/5 for my M3. Dont know if its different for Xs since they dont have to store them at VPC till they r picked up. Look up the thread on December PCD’s. A lot of the folks have gotten PCD date much earlier. Usually 2-3 wks
