Thanks for all the answers! Agree on the E90 M3 being epic and a near impossibly high bar for an FI car, I felt like crying when I traded it. The F80, no tears will be shed

Nice detailed post, finally someone who's honest about the exhaust note. I can't stand all the idiots that say " it sounds amazing " NO IT. DOESN'T !! It sounds like shit ! Just like the last generation, other than the exhaust ( which Brings a lot of joy in driving- like a Ferrari , lambo , gt3 ) this new M is great. Just wish they made an exotic exhaust.

I picked up my 6MT today, and the car is amazing, but you are 100% right on exhaust note, there's just nothing there. Not super bothered about it, personally rather too little than too much now that I have a couple of kids and I'm trying to be respectable, but it does seem like a missed opportunity

OP you mentioned you did 400 miles (650kms) with one stop.

Chris Harris stated the gas tank is small and he used to have a F80 press car for few months.

Would appreciate it if you could identify roughly how many miles you got on a full tank?

That's pretty standard ///M fare.

Does the G8X have a hard drive to save music to like the E9X and F8X had?

^ Chris Harris commented on the G80s small tank and its lack of hard drive to store audio as its biggest faults. Just kidding! Good to see someone getting some use out of that feature.

What's the reason for buying the car a province away? Better deal?

Did you happen to own a jerez black MT e90 before?

Were you actually provided a VIN by your dealer?

My dealer said they typically don't get a VIN until about 4 weeks out from delivery which doesn't make much sense.

A VIN is assigned as soon as it hits the 150. Think about it - the VIN has to be etched into the car while it's being built.

Of course...I meant if you were given the actual VIN n..

Dealers should have it the weeks that follow the actual start of production.

It's a US thing. In the US you can track the car and see the VIN as soon as it hits 150 (flips from a production number to VIN), I believe in Canada you can't do that

We can't track cars at all the way you guys can but seeing how he is in Toronto and mentioned that he was assigned a VIN I was curious.
I can't do much with it anyway as it's still 2-3 months out but I'd like it more than the 4 weeks the dealer claims to start things on my end.

Correct I'm in Toronto. Dealer gave me the vin. You can call bmw genius and gets stages and which ship it's on.

Hi,

My first post -

I ordered my BMW M3 Comp in Ontario March 25. So far my dealer hasn’t been able to give me much info. No VIN, no status updates.

When I call BMW genius they pass me on to customer service and although they can open up my order using the production number they also have no VIN and no updates.

Anyone have any advice? My SA doesn’t seem to have much experience with custom orders.

No VIN equals no allocation. They don't have a vehicle reserved for you yet. You can try to shop around with another dealer that has allocations available

Lol what? He has a production number which means he has an allocation. He hasn't hit status 150 where the vin is revealed. He can track the status of the car from bmw my garage and also ask the sales guy/bmw genius what the build week is.

No production number or vin number = no allocation.
You need either of them.

Just speaking to the dealer now, they say there won’t be a VIN until the production starts on the car.

Is that the case or are they just saying nonsense?

I do have a production number but that’s all...

Thanks for the info!

They say my build week is May 18 so I thought there would be more info by now since we’re in the build week but I guess not.

Do Canadians have access to My Garage?

I don't think Canadians can unfortunately, your best bet is to call the sales guy and ask what stage your car is in or you can call bmw genius. The build week should be the time the car finishes production so the fact that it hasn't started yet and it's May 18 is odd.
