Secondary Cats removed and BMW service

For those of you running a midpipe or catback with the secondary cats removed, has it been an issue when you take the car into BMW for an Oil Change?

No they wont care however this will invalidate any warranty and will be an MOT failure, but for an oil change wont be any issue at all.

I got tons of positive comments about how the car sounded with my psi midpipe from service team at Classic (now sewell) in Plano.

Haven't heard of anyone having a warranty issue with any of our midpipes.

Thanks for the replys, having a US Spec car in the UK, and not being entirely familiar with the process, I did not want to get hit with an MOT failure during an oil change. Im thinking of taking it to a BMW Service center and not a dealer instead.

You can only fail an MOT if the car is being MOT tested. in the UK it is an annual test following it's 3rd anniversary of registration.

Although there is an emissions test, the vast majority of testing around the exhaust system is a visual check. You can for example gut the OPFs but leave them in place and it will pass.

Of course gutting the OPFs would invalidate your warranty but at 3 years old, you may not care anyway.

Just watch out as this is partially true. Any fault found on the car to be a direct result of the modification would not be covered under warranty. For example a remap on the engine causing an injector to fail would not be covered however a strut top failing and you having changed mid pipes would still be covered as the modification was not the root cause of the fault.

Its all a bit of a grey area but that's as good an example I can think to give.
