Allocation update - January

Now that we are closer to 20th of January, i initiated this thread to track dealer allocations which might be released this month with March build weeks.

It would be helpful if we can used the below template.

Model (G80/82/83):
Received production number (Yes/No):
Waitlist progression within your dealer from last month:

I was just about to post a thread like this.

Currently #1 at my dealer for a G80, and they have been getting 1 per month.

I put a deposit down in at the end of December to be 2nd on the waitlist (xdrive waitlist has 17 people lol). As of 1/8/22 when I last spoke with my CA, the dealership hadn't received any January allocations yet. Wondering if I should follow up after the 20th to inquire.

If its in line with last year, this month's allocations might be out any day between 20th and end of this month.

I am hoping they get 2 so they can get my order started. Although I have heard that dealers only receive allocations when they deliver cars from their order bank. I am thinking with all these stop sales, if cars are not getting delivered, maybe allocations are not being given out. This is just my observation/guess so don't hold me to it.

I am #3 at my dealership and was told they got 3 allocations last month so they're expecting 2-3 this months as well. I was planning to call Monday to check up on it.

I think the metric has something to do with how quickly the dealers can get priority 1 cars off the lot once they land. I know BMW takes inventory snapshots with little notice, to determine this. And then dealers who move pre-sold units the quickest, tend to get rewarded with additional allocations. I also think keeping M inventory days-on-lot low, even for dealer inventory cars, also helps score future allocations. I don’t think BMW would hold it against dealers, that they haven’t delivered cars that are stuck in the production process.

There are likely other metrics as well.

So dealers should have received their January allocations already? I was under the impression allocations are released on the same day for all dealerships.

So I texted my CA last night from a dealer I previously had a deposit with (I took it off because I was 9th in line) and he said their dealer got 1 allocation. And this morning I texted my current CA where I was 2nd in line and he said I'm next. So both of them got allocations but I'm not sure if it was the same day because I didn't ask the specifics of that

I believe they’re regional. They rollout out to dealers in the same region on the same day, but there could be a variance across the US on the days all dealers receive their allocations. (I.e., east coast dealers get theirs on a Monday, central/Midwest allocations drop on Tuesday, and west coast drop Wednesday).

The CAs on the board can correct me if I’m wrong but that’s how I understand it.
