15k markup!!!

Just went to BMW Henderson, they have 4 allocations a head of me but they do have other allocations that I can get. My advisor came back with the sheet and it hat $15000.00 market adjustment, WTF is wrong with people?

Welcome to 2022.

To snap up an open allocation today, you are almost certainly going to be paying some sort of ADM.

#5 on a waitlist means you might get an allocation for a summer build, which means you might see the car in ~9 months, if you're lucky.

Maybe offer them $5K and see what they say? You can also try calling out of state dealers, but most are going to have a list these days.

It’s just insulting to see the Finance Manager driving an individual G80 knowing he didn’t pay 15k over

As the other guy said, welcome to 2022. I just bit the bullet and put down a deposit on an incoming car, 10k markup with zero room for negotiation. I found another dealer willing to do $7500 but I preferred the spec on the more expensive car.

Most jobs do have some benefit for their employees in their respective fields. Maybe not always monetary but usually, there is some sort of benefit.

Previous to the market in which we find ourselves, customers got nearly a similar price on cars as employees, good for the finance person.

Before I ordered my M4, I was shopping for an X4M...the guys at Henderson told me they had a "modest $5K markup on all M Cars". I stopped responding to their emails. When I decided on a G82, I shopped around until I found a dealer that didn't add any markup...found a couple in SoCal.

Where in SoCal did you find zero markup? I called pretty much every dealer (with inventory) in the LA/SD/IE area and couldn't find squat.

This was back in November, and I was specifically ordering and not buying from stock. The two that told me they didn't have any markup but were strict MSRP were Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo and BMW of Murrieta. Both had an allocation available at the time, but those are prob long gone by now. I ended up going with Steve Thomas BMW.

All prices going up. House, cars also rates.

We have to understand the market now. Don't get me wrong 10k or more mark up is crazy but it is what it is.

$5k mark up on M cars, I think, it is reasonable.

I am also internet sales manager not BMW, Benz or Porsche.

Premium brands $10k or more mark ups are usual in California.

I get customers that mad at me for no reason, not selling the vehicle at MSRP. This global shortage been going an year now.

I do understand customer side too, does not want pay too much for it. People who has trade in can take some advantage on their trade value also.

My opinion is if you don't like the price you pay now, then do not buy the car or other expenses. Simple as is.

Don't need to stress out or get upset with this market.

This is how market is now. Sellers market.

I have customers still asking for special lease, COSTCO, AAA Program.

I hear all of you, and it sucks, but it makes sense.

- When demand is low and they have excess inventory, we all ask for discounts below MSRP

- When demand is high and they have no inventory, the dealers asks for above MSRP

In the MSRP acronym, it says SUGGESTED. They can charge whatever they want. We can pay it, or we don't have to. It's pretty basic supply/demand economics that most of us learned in our college classes. If the dealerships don't have inventory and lower their profit per vehicle sold, they won't stay in business. That's the reality of running a company.

You can work for BMW dealership then may be you don't have to pay $15k mark up.

Whoever was the finance manager, he or she works for the company and may be deserve not paying $15k mark ups.

Wow, I now realize how grateful I should be to the sales manager at my dealership. Zero markup. Just MSRP + TT&L. I ordered back in October though. Zero down also. Got my allocation on Jan 1, now in status code 150 since Jan 14.

Precisely. I'm assuming a car allowance is part of their compensation plan.

I understand both sides of the argument regarding markups. But let’s say for example this was a completed M3 xDrive with buckets on their showroom floor- 15K markup would be a decent deal right? Considering just how difficult it is to find that anywhere in the US right now…

15k markup just for an allocation I get it, is another story…
